When did you start playing football?

I started playing football when I was in the fourth grade at All-Star Football League at Parkview Baptist.

What do you love about football?

I like the competitive nature the game brings, I love scoring touchdowns, and I love winning the most. I’m a competitive guy so that’s the biggest thing I love about football.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

I played baseball, football, basketball and tennis growing up.

What style of play best describes you?

Definitely a passer that can make any throw on the field, but also can tuck and run it if I need to. We do a bunch of zone read stuff, so I have to be able to run the ball, and I ‘m a tough runner too, I’m tough to bring down.

Do you guys use more of a spread offense with that zone read or is more of a two or three receiver set with a tight end.

It’s a spread offense, we have a bunch of different packages. It’s a very complex offense with presnap motions and things like that.

What were your goals this previous season?

My goals going into this season were to have a great season as a junior, play great for the senior class that did so much for us as leaders, and definitely come out with a state championship, and that’s exactly what we did.

Did you meet all of those goals?

I met the State Championship goal for sure, that was basically the main goal that I had. I also had some side goals, and that was 1st Team All-District, I didn’t quite make that, but yeah the main goal was definitely achieved.

Who are some of your biggest influences?

Definitely my parents, they do a lot for me. Throughout my whole life they always make sure I have what I need and go beyond that. What I need for football, baseball or any sport, they’re just great people in general.

Do you think attitude is a factor in winning?

Yes sir, you have to know you’re going to win before you go out there. If you get off the bus thinking you’re going to lose, you already lost, there’s nothing you can do about it. But, you definitely have to have that competitive attitude that you’re going to win no matter what, and normally that’s the result you get.

What do you think is a strength in your game play?

Definitely my toughness, no one can really phase me when I’m out there. I know that I’ve prepared and put all the work in so when I go out there it’s just all about having fun and executing what I’ve done a billion times.

Tell me what’s your favorite play to run in your offense?

Our four verticals play, where the receivers have the option to curl it up if it’s a certain coverage or just stay on the run and we’re always on the same page and we kill defenses with that play and we’ve done it a lot with that play the past few seasons.

Tell me about being named the WAFB “Player of the Week” twice.

Really special feeling, knowing that I won it out of a bunch of other talented players in our area. But I definitely earned that, I had a great game against Zachary and a great game against Teurlings to accomplish that.

Are you looking forward to this coming season?

Definitely looking forward to it, we got some new guys coming in to replace some of the seniors from last year. Can’t wait I’m very excited to see what this season has in store for us.

What’s got you most excited about this season?

All the work that we put in this summer, to go out there and showcase it, and show everybody what we’re made of.

Do you think you can break the school passing record this year?

For single game, I think I have a chance to do it, overall, the quarterback that has the career started for three years, so he has me by a good bit. I think I definitely have a good chance for the single game considering last year, I was about four yards off from the record and didn’t hardly play in the fourth quarter.

What are your goals for this season?

Definitely another State Championship, nothing less, that’s the main goal. Win our district, go undefeated. Those are our top three goals.

What are you doing in the off-season to achieve those goals?

I’ve gone really hard in the weight room, every rep I practice during summer workouts taking no days off. During the spring time I was only there for two days because of baseball, but I know my teammates did pretty well during the spring. Young guys filling in, but my part was taking every rep in the weight room as serious as possible, watching a ton of film and always getting better every day.

What would you like to major in in college?

I’m thinking business or finance, but I’m not sure yet.
