D.I.T.R: Ke’Von Johnson

Ke’Von Johnson was a standout player at the Gridiron Football Elite Camp at his school St.Edmunds in Eunice,LA. At the camp, Ke’Von posted a 4.65 second 40 yard dash as well as a 4.69 second 3 cone shuttle. Ke’Von measured in at 5’9″ 151 lbs and also jumped a 8’4″ broad jump. Ke’Von plays running back as a 2026 graduate for the St. Edmunds Blue Jays where he uses his speed and agility to make plays for his team. Ke’Von is a player that all coaches and scouts should keep their eyes on in the coming years.

I was fortunate enough to get the chance to speak with Ke’Von and gain some insight into his career.

When did you start playing football and why did you start playing?

“I started playing when I was 5 because my daddy played.”

What aspect of the game made you fall in love with the sport?

“I fell in love the the contact the most, getting to hit people is the best part.”

Do you play any other sports?

“I play basketball and run track. In track I run the 100 and the 4×1.”

Who do you look up to as a role model?

“I look up to my daddy, he made a big family for us and he does everything he can do to take care of us.”

Is there a college or professional player that you try to model your game after?

“I model my game after Barry Sanders, he was quick on his feet and can make a move any time in any place.”

What have you learned about yourself from playing football?

“I learned that I can never give up, I have to keep working hard.”

What sets you apart from the other players at your position?

“My field vision and my football IQ sets me apart.”

Who motivates you to get better every day?

“My family keeps me motivated, I want to provide for them and make us closer.”

What goals have you set for yourself this upcoming season?

“I want to break the state rushing record and I also want to go undefeated and make a deep playoff run.”

What is something you are working on improving in practice?

“I want to get bigger and work on my quickness as well. I just want to get better.”

What have you learned about teamwork from your past experiences on your teams?

“I’ve learned that you cant do everything on your own, you gotta work together to make things happen.”

What is your favorite moment from your career so far?

“Probably either my touchdown v.s. OC, because i’m from Opelousas or when I scored on our opening season kick off.”

What do you see yourself accomplishing after high school?

“I want to go play college ball and the play in the NFL.”

What are some hobbies you like to do in your free time?

“I like to do push ups, play with my siblings and sleep.”

What kind of qualities do you believe a leader should have?

“Leadership skills like correcting your teammates and staying one step ahead on the field.”
