College Football Top 25 Roundup (Week 10): Weekend Full Of Upsets as Clemson, TAMU, Iowa State Fall to Unranked Teams, OSU Beats PSU In a Top-5 Matchup & More

#1 Oregon Defeats Michigan 38-17

Oregon kept the train rolling right into Ann Arbor against a Michigan team that is underperforming so far this year. The Ducks offense was rolling in this game with 470 total yards. Dillon Gabriel had 317 total yards and 2 TDs. His favorite target on the day was WR Traeshon Holden who had 6 catches for 150 yards. The RB duo consisting of Jordan James and Noah Whittington would dominate, running for just over 150 yards and 3 touchdowns on their way to victory.

#2 Georgia Defeats Florida 34-20

Georgia scraped out a win against the Gators on the road in what was not an easy game. Florida would be forced to send out their third-string freshman QB, Aidan Warner after freshman DJ Lagway was injured in the second quarter. The Gators’ defense was what kept this game close as they would force 3 interceptions from UGA QB Carson Beck. But the Bulldogs are ranked number 2 in the nation for a reason and in the second half, it was a different story. They were able to storm right back into the game and win convincingly in what was a scary game for Dawgs fans at first.

#4 Ohio State Defeats #3 Penn State 20-13

In the biggest game of the week, a top-5 matchup, both of these teams showed up to play and the game came down to the wire. The Ohio State defense would be the game-breaker for the Buckeyes with two stops inside their 5-yard line. One would be an interception on 1st & Goal by CB Davison Igbinosun, where he snatched the ball away from the receiver and managed to get a foot in on the way down. Later in the 2nd half, the second stand would come on a turnover on downs after stuffing the run for 3 straight plays and then locking up through the air on 4th. They were able to kick a field goal with 10 minutes remaining and that would be all they needed as they were able to hold off Penn State and their home crowd and get the win.

#5 Miami Defeats Duke 53-31

The Hurricanes would keep their undefeated season rolling moving to 9-0. Cam Ward is chasing the Heisman Award with a full head of steam and had another great performance with 400 passing yards and 5 TDs. Xavier Restrepo would have a record-setting performance with 146 yards and 3 receiving touchdowns. This game would put him above the school’s all-time receiving records for yards and touchdowns, over some legendary alumni such as Michael Irvin, Andre Johnson, and Reggie Wayne. Restrepo stamped himself in the Miami record books and made sure he is remembered as a Hurricane for years to come.

#6 Texas (BYE):

#7 Tennessee Defeats Kentucky 28-18

Dylan Sampson had 142 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns to lead the Volunteers to victory on Saturday. This game also put his name in the Tennessee record books for the single-season rushing record which has stood since 1929.

#8 Notre Dame (BYE):

#9 BYU (BYE):

South Carolina Defeats #10 Texas A&M 44-20

Coming off of the emotional home win vs LSU last week and hopping on the road to travel to South Carolina to play in one of the best atmospheres in the SEC, this felt like it could be a trap game for the Aggies. The Gamecocks’ defensive line has been terrorizing quarterbacks all season and QB Lanoris Sellers can make magic happen with his legs. SC jumped on them from the start of the game and never let up winning in commanding fashion.

Louisville Defeats #11 Clemson 33-21

Louisville got a huge win against a Clemson team that had been trending in the right direction as of late. They were led by their RB Isaac Brown who had 151 yards on 20 touches and added a TD. They also were not afraid of taking their points and settling for field goals with their kicker Brock Travelstead kicking 4-5 and 3 extra points accounting for 15 of the Cardinals’ 33 points.

Texas Tech Defeats #11 Iowa State 23-22

Another upset, but this time it was Texas Tech against an undefeated Iowa State team. Texas Tech would steal this game away from the Cyclones with 20 seconds left on a Tahj Brooks’ 5-yard-touchdown run. While this was a turnover-filled game, the Red Raiders were able to overcome their mistakes in the end and knock off a top-15 team, giving them their first loss of the season.

#13 Indiana Defeats Michigan State 47-10

Indiana kept things rolling in a big way against Michigan State with a dominant win, putting up almost 50 points on the Spartans. QB Kurtis Rourke had a great showing throwing 19-29 for 263 yards and 4 passing touchdowns in the team’s high-scoring win. They move to 9-0 on the season, remaining undefeated and keeping their CFP hopes alive.

#14 Alabama (BYE):

#15 Boise State Defeats San Diego State 56-24

While Ashton Jeanty is slowly falling out of the top of the Heisman race, it is not due to lackluster performance as he added another great performance with 180 all-purpose yards and 2 TDs. In this game, the Boise State QB would actually be the one to take over the state sheet tossing for over 300 yards and 4 touchdowns through the air, running the score up, and getting a win in front of the home crowd.

#16 LSU (BYE):

Houston Defeats #17 Kansas State 24-19

It was a week of upsets and Houston was able to pull it out against Kansas State as well. After being down 19-10 entering the 4th quarter, the Cougars stayed resilient and fought back scoring 14 unanswered in the final minutes of this game, with the defense stepping up in a huge way and holding them to only 3 points in the second half. This gives the Wildcats their second loss of the season most likely knocking them out of playoff contention.

#19 Ole Miss Defeats Arkansas 63-31

WR Jordan Watkins and QB Jaxson Dart set all kinds of records in the Rebels win over Arkansas on Saturday. Dart was 25/31 with a whopping 516 passing yards and 6 passing touchdowns. Watkins would have one of the best receiving performances we have seen all college season. He would have only 8 catches but racked up 254 yards and 5 touchdowns, setting new Ole Miss single-game records.

#20 SMU Defeats #18 Pitt 48-25

SMU had a huge test against #18-ranked Pitt and they showed up and did not show any mercy. They would jump out to an early 31-3 lead at the half and never looked back. QB Kevin Jennings had another great game with 306 passing yards and 2 TDs. Paired with RB Brashard Smith’s performance on the ground of 161 yards and 2 TDs, the Mustangs offense was too much for Pitt in the 48-25 victory.

#21 Army Defeats Air Force 20-3

Army moved to 8-0, a feat they had not achieved since the 1990s, in their matchup against Air Force. The Black Knights’ run game was chugging as RB Kanye Udoh would rush for 158 yards and 2 touchdowns for the team’s only touchdowns. Their defense was solid as well, forcing 3 interceptions by the Air Force offense.

#22 Washington State (BYE):

#23 Colorado (BYE):

Minnesota Defeats #24 Illinois 25-17

Our last Top 25 upset of the week came at #24 where Illinois fell to Minnesota. While the offenses were almost identical in total yards gained, the Golden Gophers would gain the edge on defense. Their 2 forced fumbles and a turnover on downs in the 4th quarter would be enough to hold off Illinois, giving Minnesota their 4th straight win.

#25 Missouri (BYE):
