Tonight’s matchup featured two powerhouse schools in the state of Louisiana. Featuring the Catholic High Bears and the Central High Wildcats. The Wildcats entered tonights game undefeated looking to make a statement that they are a team to beat. However, the Catholic Bears came out hot tonight, for the game started with a passing touchdown from Catholic’s quarterback Baylor Graves. The bears gained momentum on this play, for it was converted on a 4th & 9 yards to go.
Central would answer to the touchdown scored by Catholic. After blocking a Catholic punt, Central would find their way into the end zone on a rush by their running back Marvin Joseph. Marvin Joseph in the wildcat formation was able to power his way to the end zone to give life to the Wildcats.
Catholic was quick to answer to the touchdown scored by Central, for after receiving the ball, running back Jayden Miles scored a rushing touchdown for the Bears.
After a couple possessions from each team, Catholic was next to strike for a touchdown. The Bears would go on to score on a receiving touchdown by Chase Cathey. Interesting enough before the play Chase called for the matchup, which he was successful on to add to the Bears score.
Going into halftime at a 21-7 score, it started to feel as if the Bears would fully pull away, but the Wildcats were able to force a fumble in the 3rd quarter. This fumble would lead to a field goal by the Wildcats adding some spark to the team that was needed.
After the field goal from Central, the Catholic Bears would later find themselves back in the end zone. After a rush from running back Rylan Parker. This was one of two touchdowns for Rylan, as he would go on to score another later in the game for the Bears.
Catholic already up by 18, went on to score another touchdown late in the game by running back Rylan Parker. This would be the second touchdown of the night for Rylan. This would go on to make the score 35-10, which started to feel as if there was no hope for the Central Wildcats.
in a game that was heading for a Catholic win, the Wildcats would not go out without a fight. Scoring a touchdown on a deep pass to wide receiver Kolby Simpson. Simpson would help add points to the score for the Wildcats. However, it would not be enough for the Wildcats to win, for the bears would go on to win the game 35-17.
Overall was a hard fought game from both teams. The Catholic Bears would improve their record to 5-1 and the Central Wildcats drop their first game of the season. Both teams competed al the way till the last whistle was blown. Look for both teams to continue to have success throughout the season.
