He hauled in a career-high eight receptions for a career-high 186 yards, making clutch catches throughout the game. His biggest catch was the game winner. Encalade caught a strike from junior quarterback Jonathan Banks near midfield and motored past two Houston defenders on his way across the goal line. He also had a crucial 11-yard catch on Tulane’s final drive with the Green Wave clinging to three-point lead in the waning minutes of the game. The catch gave Tulane a first down and allowed the Green Wave to go into victory formation for the final three plays to seal the win.

DEFENSE

PEYTON GUIDRY – NORTHWESTERN STATE — LB, Senior, Cut Off, LA

As the Demons posted their third win in four games, ending the season with a home field 38-21 victory over Stephen F. Austin in the annual Battle for Chief Caddo, the largest trophy in sports, Guidry ended his career with his best game, giving outgoing coach Jay Thomas a successful sendoff. Guidry made a career-high 18 tackles, including 3 for lost yards, and intercepted a pass at the SFA 27 to set up NSU’s first TD, while the Demons kept the Lumberjacks’ offense under 300 yards until their final series. Guidry had tackles in two goal line stands — one early in the third quarter ending with a fourth-down stop with Guidry involved, the other a TFL at the 3 on second down in the fourth quarter, culminating the drive with a missed field goal. Guidry’s 18 tackles ranks 14th nationally in FCS this year.
