LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns were unable to keep up with the University of Troy Trojans in their season finale and fell by the score of 41-17. The Cajuns finished 2015 3-5 in conference play and 4-8 on the year.

Troy jumped out early and led 24-0 by the end of the first quarter. The Cajuns started to rally in the second when Elijah McGuire cut through the defense for an 18-yard touchdown. By the end of the game, McGuire had became the third player in school history to rush for 1,000 yards in consecutive seasons. UL was also able to add a field goal and went into the half trailing 24-10.ul vs troy

In the second half, the Cajuns scored once again, this time on a Jordan Davis pass to McGuire. This cut the Trojan lead to seven, but Troy can back with seventeen unanswered points to make the final 41-17.

Davis led the Cajuns’ passing attack going 20/34 for 207 yards and a touchdown. Elijah McGuire paced the Cajun’s running game with 75 yards and a score. Torrey Pierce added 19 yards of his own. Devin Scott had 74 yards receiving on four receptions, Gary Haynes had eight for 64 yards, and McGuire added a TD grab.

On defense, Travis Crawford lead the team with nine tackles. Savion Brown, Chris Prater, and Taboris Lee each had seven tackles.

The Cajuns will use the off season to correct the mistakes of this year. The Cajuns were just not as consistent on both sides of the ball as in years past, but showed many flashes of being a great team. UL will go into the off season with a possible answer to their quarterback carousel as Jordan Davis showed much promise these last two games and if Elijah McGuire returns in 2016, this offense could be scary.
