Escambia High School Kicker Morgan Stancliff has committed to the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game. Notably, Morgan is the first girl to play in the 7 years of the All-American Game.
She has been kicking for Escambia for a couple of years, and it is incredibly impressive for her to have made it this far, and this is just yet another barrier she has broken in her high school career. Morgan is a 3 sport athlete, also playing soccer and softball. Unlike football, however, those sports have girl’s teams. In order to play football, she needed to be willing to be the only girl on the team, and Morgan did that.
In fact, she didn’t just survive in that situation, she thrived. She’s not a “good at kicker for a girl”, she’s a good kicker who happens to be a girl. Her accolades as a kicker resemble that of an accomplished career as a football player, regardless of her gender. She finished last season 36/37 in PATs and 2/4 in FGs with along of 37 yards. She was Escambia’s special team’s MVP and won an award from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She doesn’t have any offers yet, but who knows what could happen when she gets her chance at the bowl game.
Playing in the bowl game is a great accomplishment, but doing great in it will make it even better.
