The first quarterback to commit to the 2024 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game is Denham Springs High School (Denham Springs, LA) quarterback Jerry Horne. The 6’2, 210 pound signal caller is one of the best in South Louisiana and is one of the most highly regarded senior quarterbacks in the state.
With a strong arm, a big frame, good athleticism, and 4.8/40 speed, Horne has the ability to beat defenses not only in the pocket, but he also has the ability to escape and make plays either outside the pocket or on the run. Early on, it was evident that the Yellow Jackets’ quarterback was going to be a good player as he guided the team to a convincing 42-14 playoff victory against Central when current ULM quarterback Reese Mooney went down with injury as only a freshman. After sharing reps and battling for the starting job with Mooney as a sophomore, it was Horne’s first full year as a starter last season as a junior and he made All-Parish by throwing for 1,570 yards and 10 touchdowns while rushing for three touchdowns on the ground.
Now, entering his senior season, Horne has a chance to fully show his incredible upside and have his most productive season yet with some weapons on the outside to throw the football to. At the end of the year, Horne will have the chance to show college coaches what he is capable of just down the road in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at Memorial Stadium, which is the home of the 2024 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game. Even though he has received a lot of interests, Jerry Horne hopes that with his play this fall and in the All-Star Game, it can garner him a lot of offers by season’s end.
“I’m excited to be selected to participate among all the great athletes around. I believe it will be a great opportunity and stage to showcase what I can do to all the big colleges around our country! I’d say my biggest goal is to help the playmakers around me showcase what they can do while I do the same.”
