“For them, it’s great because they get so many extra reps. Basically, like everything in life, there’s a cost and there’s a benefit to everything that happens. Obviously, we would love to have Sam and love to have him taking all the team reps fully healthy. They’ve done a really good job with that. It makes them show up because now they’re up there with the ones. It’s been challenging for Sam. He’s extremely competitive, so I know it bothers him that he can’t do more and that’s a really good thing.”

Landon Clark got an extended look with the first team during 11v11 work as Leavitt is still recovering from injury. Most of the 11v11 work came in the red zone as Clark did throw a touchdown to Trey’Dez Green, who was wearing a yellow non-contact jersey.
During 11v11, the first team offensive line featured Braelin Moore at center, Devin Harper at left guard, Jordan Seaton at left tackle, Maryland transfer Aliou Bah at right guard, and Weston Davis at right tackle.
The first team starting defense had Tennessee transfer Jordan Ross and Ole Miss transfer Princewill Umanielen at edge, Dominick McKinley and Auburn transfer Malik Blocton at defensive tackle, Ole Miss transfer TJ Dottery and Davhon Keys at linebacker, Boise State transfer Ty Benefield and Tamarcus Cooley at safety, and DJ Pickett and PJ Woodland at cornerback.
The Tigers’ new receiving core that is mostly composed of transfers got a lot of work in the red zone as they were running mostly slants, rub routes, and long drags in the back of the end zone.
Of the receivers that got work in today, Kansas State transfer Jayce Brown got the most reps. Although a new group, there are a lot of targets that stick out. Brown, Old Dominion transfer Tre’ Brown, Hawaii transfer Jackson Harris, Ole Miss transfer Winston Watkins Jr., and Troy transfer Roman Mothershed were impressive catching fade routes from the quarterbacks. For Lane Kiffin, he is all about quantity when it comes to the receiving position.
“We kind of look at that room or maybe and we try to balance the room more. If you think of it as like here’s your cap number for a room instead of being really top heavy with one and two and then not having depth, I think we’ve been our best because we’ve had four to five to six receivers that can all play really well.”
