2023 GF Player of the Week:
Week 1: LCA 2024 QB & LSU Commit Ju’Juan Johnson
1.Westwood High School (TX) 2026 WR Kaysn Dial:
For the first time ever in our Gridiron Football Player of the Week, an out of state player has reached the top of our list, and he hails from the state of Texas. Our Week 2 Gridiron Football Player of the Week is Westwood High School 2026 WR Kaysn Dial. Although the Panthers are currently in Week 3 of their season, this is our second player of the week since we did our season debut last week. Dial scored in every way possible in order to help the Panthers get a great 3-0 start to the season. In the team’s high scoring 52-44 win over Palmer, Dial did whatever necessary to keep up with the scoring pace. He finished the game with 6 catches for 161 yards and 3 TDs as a receiver, had an 80-yard kickoff return for a TD as a return specialist, and then capped the night off by completing a pass on a two-point conversion. He also boomed a 52 yard punt during the game as well. It was a complete performance that made all the difference in helping his team win, and that’s why he is our Gridiron Football Player of the Week!
2. Franklin Parish High School 2024 ATH & Tulane Commit Javion White:
Franklin Parish High School 2024 ATH Javion White showed why the Tulane Green Wave love him so much as he simply dominated and took over the football game in a 59-31 win over St. Frederick. The Tulane Green Wave commit had five catches for 172 yards and 2 TDs as a receiver, two punt returns for 75 yards including a 60 yard punt return for a TD, and finally a kickoff return for an 80 yard TD. White’s 4 TD performance in 3 different ways shows why this Patriot is a human highlight reel on every play.
3. Carencro High School 2026 QB Chantz Babineaux:
When asking Carencro High School Head Coach Tony Courville about Chantz Babineaux as a freshman, his response was that he was the best freshman he has ever coached since Kevin Faulk. Those are pretty high regards, and after posting gaudy numbers as a wide receiver, he is now breaking records as a quarterback. In the Bears’ impressive 60-14 victory over Barbe, the sensational sophomore set a school record with 6 TD passes while throwing for 332 yards on only 14 completions. Whether it is throwing the football or catching the football, Babineaux has established himself as a dynamic playmaker and it is no wonder why schools like Michigan have already offered him.
4. Wossman High School 2025 ATH Richard Wilson Jr.:
Wossman High School 2025 ATH Richard Wilson Jr. had quite the performance for the Wildcats and it was needed as the Wildcats were able to escape with a narrow 12-7 win over Northwood. In the win, Wilson did a little bit of everything as he had 98 kick return yards including an 81 yard punt return for a TD on special teams, but he has made the Top 5 because of what he did on defense with 4 tackles, 4 assists, 2 PBUs, & 3 INTs. Not to mention, he also was the team’s punter, kicker, and starting wide receiver as well. The Wildcats’ versatile playmaker’s efforts were rewarded by becoming a big factor in a close win.
5. Collegiate Baton Rouge High School 2024 S Haidyn Moten:
Collegiate Baton Rouge High School 2024 safety Haidyn Moten was a ball magnet in the team’s 27-14 loss to Abramson Sci Academy. Although the Dolphins lost, Moten gave his team an opportunity to win with his performance as he not only scored a TD, but he also produced four tackles, a forced fumble, and a whopping three interceptions.
6. Lakeview High School 2024 RB Kaleb Collins:
Led by Andy Boone in his first year with Lakeview Gators, Coach Boone is bringing an unconventional and aggressive running style to the program after coming over from Avoyelles High School, and it has already made an instant impact for the Gators. In a 60-35 win over Montgomery, the Gators had not only one, but two 200 yard rushers including Kaleb Collins, who led the way with 17 carries for 288 yards and 4 TDs plus 3 two point conversions to account for half of the team’s points in a big outing.
7. Belen Jesuit Preparatory School (FL) 2024 DE Gavench Marcelin:
Belen Jesuit Preparatory School (FL) 2024 DE Gavench Marcelin proved this past week why he is a Division I commitment to Florida Atlantic with an unblockable performance against Somerset Academy in a 33-14 win. In the win, the dominant pass rusher had four sacks and an incredible 18 tackles making it a living nightmare for the Stallions all night long.
8. St. Edmund High School 2026 RB Ke’Von Johnson:
The first ever winner of the Gridiron Football Player of the Week award last season was St. Edmund High School 2026 RB Ke’Von Johnson, and the Blue Jays record setting running back had another productive day this time against the Nolan Catholic Vikings when he ran the ball 29 times for 329 yards and 4 TDs in the team’s 40-24 win in the Catholic Bowl that was played in Dallas. With another great start to the season, the star sophomore is on pace to be one of Louisiana’s leading rushers once again in 2023.
9. Hueytown High School (AL) 2024 DT Kole Caldwell:
When a defensive tackle makes the top 10 list, then, you know what kind of impactful performance he made to make it, and that is exactly what Hueytown High School (AL) 2024 DT Kole Caldwell did. In the Golden Gophers’ 56-0 win over Brookwood, Caldwell filled the stat sheet up with six tackles, a TFL, an interception, a forced fumble, a blocked punt, & a deflected, tipped punt. While forcing a couple of turnovers, Caldwell played a big role in shutting out the Panthers and also helped his offense score while doing so.
10. Episcopal High School 2024 RB Braeden George:
Episcopal High School 2024 RB Braeden George kicks off the list by having another explosive night running the football for the Knights in a 34-23 win over St. Thomas Aquinas. The first two carries for the Knights’ playmaker running back resulted in long TD runs and showed what kind of night it was going to be. Overall, George ran for 231 yards and 4 TDs on 16 carries with 3 of those TDs coming on 50+ yard runs. Being on the play by play call for that game, it is game over once Braeden George breaks the second level of the defense, which he did against the Falcons to give the Knights their first win of the 2023 season.
