Today, the LSU Tigers were able to gain a commitment from one of the top quarterbacks in the country for the 2027 class in Evangel Christian Academy (Shreveport, LA) QB Peyton Houston.
The 6’0, 210 pound gunslinger from notorious quarterback factory Evangel Christian Academy chose the Tigers over Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, and USC. Last season, Houston electrified as a sophomore by completing 310 of 443 passes for 4,480 yards and 38 touchdowns while also running for 690 more yards and seven touchdowns.
The 5A All-State quarterback set national single game records for 817 yards and 10 touchdowns in a 77-76 loss to Captain Shreve. After receiving an offer from LSU last February, offensive coordinator Joe Sloan ramped up the recruiting on Houston, who was at the Florida game on Saturday.
A 4-star recruit per 247Sports and On3.com, Houston is a Top 10 Louisiana football player for 2027. He is listed as the state’s No. 2 QB behind the Dunham School’s Elijah Haven according to On3.
His head coach Denny Duron spoke about what kind of special player Houston is to coach.
“It is crazy that he is even better than last year because watching him play last year, I didn’t think that you could possibly get any better. Yet, he has worked so hard that he has pushed himself beyond how he was performing last year.”

Houston is already having a strong start to the season throwing for 664 yards and five TDs, while rushing seven times for 189 yards and two more scores in the first two games of the season.
The Eagles’ 1st Team All-District and All-State quarterback is the first verbal commitment for the Tigers in the 2027 class and is the first quarterback in a stacked 2027 quarterback class that has committed to play in Baton Rouge.
