The Hornets stay undefeated in a 4th Quarter Nail Biter

Scotlandville, LA- The Hornets are looking to maintain a perfect record for the season as they host Live Oak Eagles. The Eagles have a 5-3 record but look to play the district matchup tough.

Scotlandville elected to receive as they won the coin toss. Things did not start off well as the Eagles forced a fumble on the opening drive and recovered the ball. Even though Live Oak would get a turnover in Hornet territory, Scotlandville’s defense held them to just a field goal. The Eagles would open up the score 3-0.

A punt and turnover on 4^th down and gave the Hornets an opportunity to capitalize on a good field position. Levi Lewis exchanged a pair of reception passes before scrambling for an 8-yard touchdown. The Hornets would go up 7-0 at the end of the 1^st Quarter.

Live Oak responded with a rushing touchdown of their own on the following drive as Ryan Morris found the end zone for the Eagles. A 5-yard scramble and a 46-yard scramble put Morris on the 2-yard line before he crossed into the end zone. Live Oak would take a 10-7 lead at the beginning of the 2^nd Quarter.

The Hornets would lock to score quick on the next drive but a deep throw from Lewis would result in an interception that would be returned all the way back to the 10-yard line. A pass interference call would give Morris another chance to run it again for a touchdown, as the Eagles would go up 17-7.

The Hornets showed life, as they would not go down easily. Levi Lewis took control as he ran the ball down the field on several plays as he was constantly pressured. He scored on a 14-yard rushing touchdown and narrowed the score down to 17-14 before halftime.

An exchange of punts and a heavily involved running game from both teams left the score at a standstill throughout the 3^rd Quarter as neither team could get much going.

Live Oak would score on the opening minutes of the 4^th Quarter as they drove deep into Hornet territory. The Eagles were not too successful throwing the ball so they relied heavily on the running game. Ryan Morris capped a 63-yard drive with his 3^rd rushing touchdown of the night to put the Eagles ahead 24-14.

It was a battle of the quarterbacks, as Levi Lewis took game into his own hands as he scored his 3^rd rushing touchdown of the night. The passing game was minimal as the Hornets only weapon of the night was Levi Lewis. The Hornets would convert on a crucial 4^th & 7 to score with 7 minutes left to play. However an important extra point attempt for Scotlandville was unsuccessful and brought the score to 24-20 with Live Oak still ahead.

Live Oak got the ball on the next drive with a 4-point lead. However, instead of punting on 4^th down, they ran a trick play that caused a turnover.

Levi Lewis would score his 4^th rushing touchdown of the night exactly two plays later for 42 yards. Scotlandville would attempt a 2-point conversion and was successful to go ahead 28-24 with 3 minutes left in the game.
