I had the pleasure of talking to Damian Johnson’s coach, Ben Hall yesterday. Ben one was the Director of Operations for Louisiana Gridiron Football and now he is the quarterback coach for False River.
Damian Johnson is a JR at False River Academy. He is 6 foot and 170 lbs.
What makes Damian special:
When a play breaks down, he can make plays happen because he is a two way threat. If he can’t find a receiver open, then he can beat you with his feet.
Have you practiced this play before, or was it just luck:
Damian had been messing around with a few of the receivers one day after practice, so our head coach, Darrian Moore, decided to attempt this play at practice just to see if it would work in certain situations. Coach Moore decided to put it in the play chart the other day. That play became a pivotal point in the game since it was a two point conversion and we won by only one point.
What are your thoughts of Damian playing college ball:
I think he can play D1 ball once he graduates. He has all the tools be be a good college football player. He is only a junior so he is still learning the Quarterback position.
Any Other Thoughts:
We run the Gus Malzahn offense, so he still has a lot to learn and time to develop. I love how he is willing to study the game, he listens to what I say, and he puts in the work. When other young men are out with their friends doing what kids do, he is training for the next game.
