School Spotlight: Slaughter Comunnity Charter High School

The Slaughter Community Charter Knights (SCCS), based out of Slaughter, Louisiana, is a team to watch out for next season! They are a football team coming off a hot season last year with a 6-3 regular season record while also winning their first-round playoff game vs. Thomas Jefferson High. Unfortunately, the Knights fell short in a great second-half effort from Sumner High in the next game for the second round of the playoffs. They are in the 8-2A district with the also seemingly hot Episcopal Knights and Dunham Tigers out of Baton Rouge. The Knights(SCCS) have been picking up some new pieces and moving some players to different positions this offseason. The stud head coach, Patrick Clarkston, is already making history with the Knights(SCCS), picking up their second playoff win in school history last season! Coach Clarkston expressed for this upcoming season that he is looking forward to seeing the senior leadership carry his team throughout the season.

We got the chance to ask Coach Clarkston who some players are that we should be on the lookout for next season, and he gave us some insight on Ty’Kimion Ford(QB) and Thomas Carter Jr(DB). He expressed that Carter’s resilience on defense and his ability to make a big impact in any given game will help his team tremendously this season. On the offensive side, Coach Clarkston also expects his senior quarterback to have a great season. He let us know that, especially if he can get a little more comfortable with running when the throw isn’t there, which he was superb in closer to the closing stages of last season, they would be in great shape to win any given game. We are all looking forward to seeing how the Knights (SCCS) will bounce back this season after the heartbreaking second-round playoff loss last year. Could this be their championship season? Stay tuned, and we will keep you posted on the Knights throughout the season!
