School Spotlight: Byron Nelson High School

Byron Nelson High School is a 6A division II high school located in Trophy Club, TX, about 20 minutes north of Fort Worth. In the last eight years, he has a record of 46 wins and 35 losses. Before his time as a Bobcat, Coach Pride coached at the college level, at the University of Wyoming, before becoming the head coach to high schools like Wichita Falls and Mansfield Summit before becoming the head coach at Byron Nelson in 2016.

In their latest playoff game, against Cooppell, the undefeated team came out again victorious 54-45 in this shootout game. The star player from this game had to be quarterback Tom Von Grote. Tom is the senior quarterback for this team. In his impressive showing for this season, He was able to get over 270 passing yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for 100 yards and two touchdowns in this game. This six-touchdown performance was a dominating performance that showed how he is one of the most explosive players in his division. Landon Farco was a humongous help to the quarterback, being Tom’s favorite receiver, bringing in eight catches for 162 yards and three touchdowns. These two look to keep their chemistry going in the quarterfinals.
