Rising Star, OL/DL Karter Williams, Westdale Middle School (Baton Rouge, Louisiana)

Karter Williams, a Westdale Middle School athlete from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is a 5’4 1/2, 155-pound defensive and offensive lineman. He just played in the junior high 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game. Karter is a talented offensive and defensive lineman with seven years of football experience. In his prior season, he had zero sacks allowed and added a diverse skill set that strengthens the team. Coaches and teammates are taking notice of his increasing potential and are excited about him.

How did you get started in football, and what inspired you to play the sport?

I got started in football when my mom and dad encouraged me to play.

Can you share a memorable moment or game that stands out in your junior high football career so far?

This is my first year being noticed by high school coaches.

What positions do you enjoy playing the most, and why?

I enjoy playing center, it fits me best.

How do you balance schoolwork and football during the season?

Academics come first in my household.

What aspects of your game do you feel you have improved upon the most since you started playing?

My blocking has come a long way from the start of the season.

What are your individual goals for the upcoming football season, and how do they align with the team’s objectives?

This upcoming season I will be facing a position switch.

Are there any professional football players you look up to, and if so, why? 

I look up to center, Rodney Hudson.

How do you stay motivated during practices and training sessions, especially when facing tough drills or exercises?

At practice I focus on getting better. Recently I have been lifting weights and doing agility running.

What advice would you give to other young players?

Stay focus on yourself, and improve all day everyday.

Aside from football, what is an interesting fact about you? 

I am good at madden.

Which college would you most like to play for? 

I would like to play for LSU.

What did it mean to be a part of the Gridiron Bowl football game? 

It meant a lot to be apart of the Gridiron Bowl Game. I didn’t play a single down of football last year, so it was an honor to play this year.

What are your biggest strengths on the field? 

Snapping the ball is my biggest strength on the field.

What is the biggest challenge you face on the field? 

The biggest challenge on the field is going against people that are twice my size.

How has playing football impacted other areas of your life, such as academics and personal growth?

Football has made me excel. It has made me dedicated to the sport, working out, and my academics.
