QB Zachary Marlin: Biloxi, MS

There are many Mississippi high school quarterbacks to keep an eye on this coming season, and 2024 Biloxi High School Quarterback Zachary Marlin should be high on every list. As our latest diamond in the rough athlete, this 5’11, 165 pound passer has lots of potential in his game. His remarkable ability to evade the defense and make a play from anything is what stands out to me. Last season, he earned Second Team All-Region honors. Now as he looks toward next season, that First Team recognition is very achievable. Biloxi High School has a very talented team, and they are aiming to make a run this coming season. I think Marlin along with another previous DITR WR William Lai, the Indians have a fun season coming for them. Their offense has lots of potential to be an explosive one this season. Zachary came out and competed at our most recent Elite Camp, held at Northshore High School, and showed his talents and potential for next season.

Beat Writer Jace Lejeune interviewed Zachary at our most recent Elite Camp.

What age were you when you started playing football and why did you continue to do so over the years?

“I started playing football at 6 years old. When I was little we lived in Amory, MS, and our team played against other towns and we supported each other as a team. Over the years I loved playing with a lot of different players and even have coached pee-wee football the past few years. I just love the game and all that it brings.”

What are you biggest strengths as a quarterback?

“I think my biggest strengths are arm strength, how coachable I am, and play recognition.”

What would you describe as a good teammate?

“Hard worker and leader who loves the game as much as I do”

What are the biggest things necessary for you to improve as a QB?

“Constantly improving everyday on my technique and also getting bigger.”

How has the recruiting process been throughout high school for upcoming potential college. Any interests?

“Recruiting has been slow, I see on social media a lot of friends getting offers, but I know my opportunities will come. I believe in my hard work and talent; the right situation will come along for me.”

Do you have any goals for this season?

“I want to pass for over 2000 yards and rush for over 1000 personally. As a team, I want us go further into the playoffs than last year.”

“I am a player who loves the game, am very coachable and am a winner. I will do whatever it takes to help my team succeed.”
