LSU Adds Three More Power Five Transfers

Three talented players at much needed positions have officially joined the LSU Tigers with head coach Brian Kelly making the official announcement today.

The three transfers are Ohio State cornerback JK Johnson, Syracuse cornerback Duce Chestnut, and Texas edge rusher Ovie Oghoufo.

The three additions will add to the total now, which features 10 transfers and 25 freshmen signees.

JK Johnson and Duce Chestnut have added more depth and Power Five playing experience to the Tigers’ secondary.

Johnson has appeared in 15 games for Ohio State including five starts with 22 tackles in two seasons. The former number one player in Missouri also has a great relationship with LSU cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples as Johnson played for him in high school at De Smet in St. Louis, Missouri.

Chestnut was one of the best defensive backs in the ACC where he was a freshman All-American at Syracuse. The third team All-ACC selection had 83 tackles, 13 passes defended and four interceptions, including one of which he returned 28 yards for a touchdown against Wagner in 2022. He transfers to LSU with plenty of experience after starting 24 games for the Orange.

Finally, on the defensive front, Oghoufo reunites with Brian Kelly after beginning his career at Notre Dame. However, it was the University of Texas that Oghoufo is known for as he started 20 games for the Longhorns where he had 96 tackles, 14.0 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.
