Saturday’s 48-20 over UL of Lafayette puts Tech in the position to become one of Conference-USA’s top programs. With victories over good programs like ULL, the Bulldogs make a strong push for recruits and recognition. Anytime a program can travel to an in-state opponent and display the ability the Bulldogs did, they have an opportunity to turn some heads. All eyes are now on Tech.
In week 1 the Bulldogs fought hard against one of the nation’s top-ranked teams, the University of Oklahoma. Many considered week 1 to be a moral victory for the Bulldogs because of the way they were able to hang with Oklahoma. In week 2, Tech showed they are more than capable of hanging with good teams. ULL is no Oklahoma, but they are a solid program that has won 3 straight bowl games and won their conference last season. Not to mention, ULL is a tough place to get a win for any away team because the Cajuns play so well at home. Saturday’s win was marked by a 99 yard touchdown run which might be a great metaphor for the Bulldog’s season. Being backed up by a top-ranked opponent then busting through the hole to go 99 yards into a bowl game.
