Earlier this week, LSU was able to get their 11th commitment of the 2026 class and the 7th from the state of Louisiana in Franklin Parish 4 Star ATH Dezyrian Ellis.
The 6’3, 180 pound star Patriot is looking forward to being a Tiger and understands how big this is not only for the Tigers, but for the city of Winnsboro.
Ellis truly appreciates the history of his town as although this is the first official LSU commitment from Franklin Parish High School, it is not the first time that the city has had somebody commit to play for the Purple and Gold.
“It’s great to represent Winnsboro. I’m the first person since all area Franklin Parish schools consolidated. Booger McFarland is the first person to go to LSU.”

Representing his area and his state certainly was a reason why Ellis decided to verbally commit to play for the Tigers, but it was also his relationship with cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond that really sealed the deal.
“My relationship with Coach Raymond definitely played in my decision. The relationship has been great. We talk almost everyday and he sees me as a corner in their defense.”

While Ellis is going to play cornerback for LSU in the future, he is focused on playing quarterback now for the Franklin Parish Patriots.
Last season, the Patriots had a breakout year going 10-2 and making the Division II Non-Select Quarterfinals. A huge reason for their ascent was the play of Ellis, who made All-State by throwing for 2,189 yards and 31 touchdowns while also rushing for 827 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.
Playing quarterback for the Patriots has actually helped him develop on the other side of the football to get him ready for SEC play.
“It helps me with field vision and I understand what other QBs are doing when they are doing it.”

Now that he has committed to the Tigers, the Franklin Parish quarterback has now shifted his focus on making more history for the city of Winnsboro.
“The standard is the standard! We fell short my junior season. The goal is to get to the Dome and win it all.”

Dezyrian Ellis is certainly one of the best athletes in the state of Louisiana, but he feels that it is more than just athleticism that is going to set him apart when he arrives on campus.
“My goals once I get on campus are books, work, books, and more work! Plain and simple! I learn fast and I’m a go getter!”

Athletic, hungry, and motivated to represent Franklin Parish well, things are definitely looking up for this future Tiger.
