DITR: WR Seth Gale

Seth Gale is a 5’10 170 Ibs WR. He attends University Lab High School (U-High) in Baton Rouge, LA. Seth is one of the main playermakers on this University lab cubs’ football team. He does much of his damage in the slot but also can make plays on the outside. Along with being a threat on the offensive end, he uses his speed and explosiveness in the return game by creating big plays there too. He has worked hard these past couple of years and has received multiple rewards. He has been named 1st Team All-District WR and All-state WR in his years playing for the Cubs. Seth has put up outstanding numbers and this season became the new Career Receiving Touchdown Leader at U-High. He has been on a tear throughout the whole season and put up 1,262 all-purpose yards and 14 total touchdowns. He has led this cub’s football team to a 9-1 record and 1st place in their district. Seth hopes to keep adding onto his already impressive high school football career resume by continuing this momentum into the post-season. We were able to talk and interview Seth.

Having a strong support system is important. Being able to have people that you can turn to whenever things get tough or even for motivation is important for young athletes. Most times when an athlete has people that always support them, it makes them play better as a player.

“My Parents and Sister and Brother are massive supporters, sister is 9 years old, and brother is 6 years old, but they always find time to come to my games and I’m extremely grateful.”

WR Seth Gale – When asked about who has supported him along his journey.

Teams cannot win if they do not play as one unit or together. Playing football requires you to play as a team, not one individual can carry a team to victory. Being a good teammate is important to a team’s success.

“A good teammate is someone you can always rely on and someone who always puts the team first.”

WR Seth Gale – When asked about what makes a good teammate.

Each season players look forward to something, rather it is playing a specific team or seeing how the team improved from last season. He accounted for 43 points and him and the Cubs made the playoffs and this season he looked to improve that.

“I looked forward to playing one last season with my teammates and senior class, this group is special, look forward to going to state with them and playing in the dome for the first time!”

WR Seth Gale – When asked about what he looked forward to going into this season.

Each player has different motivations for playing football. Having something or someone that motivates you as player, allows you to work harder to strengthen your craft. This season he became the new Career Receiving Touchdown Leader at U-High.

“My teammates motivate me to get better each day, Tony Burns, Deuce Dawson, Tommy Greene and Jayden Gloston are the DB’s on our team and they make sure I Bring my A game every day, Granville and Zay are also receivers, and we help keep each other accountable.”

WR Seth Gale – When asked about what motivates him to play or get better.

Last season Seth and the Cubs were able to lead his team to a 9-4 record and put up an astonishing 504 points. Even with the tremendous effort from Seth all season long, the U-High Cubs suffered a third-round playoff exit. This year he plans to recreate and top what he did last year and hopefully lead his team to state championship.

“I learned after the lost to Dunham in semifinals how much it means for a team to be United, no matter how much talent you have the team has to be move as one cohesive unit to be successful.”

WR Seth Gale – When asked about what he learn about himself and the team last season.

Seth is currently in his senior year of high school. He does not have any college offers yet but hopeful that will change soon with his performance throughout this season. He has been invited to a couple of Gamedays for colleges.

“I’d like to play college football after High School and Study Political Science.”

WR Seth Gale – When asked about his plans after High School.

In order to get better as a football player, you have to study and watch some best players that play the game. To become a great football player, you have to learn and see what it takes to become great.

“One of the more often comparisons I get as a receiver is Wes Welker or former Evangel wide receiver Trent Taylor.”

WR Seth Gale – When asked about who he would compare himself to or model game after

Every athlete has a moment where they fall in love with their sport. Each athlete has a starting point in their career.

“Started playing tackle football in 6th grade but played flag football before that.”

WR Seth Gale – When ask about what age he started playing football.

A lot of professional athletes played multiple sports growing up. Some athletes are good enough to even be recruited in multiple sports.

“I played basketball up until this year and also run track and went to state in hurdles my sophomore and junior year.”

WR Seth Gale – When asked about playing other sports.
