DITR: OL/DL Christian Speight, Evangel Christian Academy (Shreveport, LA)

The Evangel Christian Academy Eagles are an exciting team to watch led by one of the top quarterbacks in the 2027 class in Peyton Houston, but if the Eagles want to make a serious run at a state championship this season, it all come down to the trenches and having Christian Speight man both lines of scrimmage is certainly a good way to start.

“Playing both ways builds my stamina, awareness, and toughness. I understand what the guy across from me is thinking, which gives me an edge whether I’m blocking or shedding blocks.”

Rated as a four star prospect by Gridiron Football, Speight is a prospect that is definitely flying under the radar on a team that is filled with stars. At 6’3, 300 pounds, Christian Speight’s X profile is named Manchild and that is exactly what he is with a combination of pure strength and quickness for his size.

“My biggest strengths are my physicality, versatility, and football IQ. I take pride in playing with a high motor on every snap, and I’m able to adapt quickly to what the offense or defense is showing.”

That combination to go with posting a 3.1 GPA in the classroom has attracted the attention from several schools including two programs which he has received college offers from.

“Hendrix College and Centenary College have really stood out. The coaching staffs were genuine and the environments felt like a place I could see myself growing on and off the field.”

“The recruiting process has been really exciting and humbling. I’ve been blessed to receive two offers and interest from several schools. I’m thankful for every coach who has taken the time to get to know me.”

The recruiting process has been successful to this point, but for Speight, this only adds fuel to the fire.

“I’m focusing on improving my footwork, hand placement, and overall explosiveness off the ball. There’s always room to grow, especially with technique and conditioning.”

Along with gaining more college offers by the end of the season, Speight has other goals that he wants to accomplish during his senior season.

“My goals are to win a state championship, lead by example, and be one of the most dominant two way players in the state. I also want to help elevate my teammates’ game.”

Speight can take over a game on either side of the ball, but he truly loves going after the quarterback.

“I enjoy playing defensive line more because it allows me to be aggressive and disrupt plays.”

Disrupting plays is something that he wants to do as Speight models his game after somebody that did that at a regular basis when he played in the NFL.

“I model my game after Aaron Donald because of their technique, intensity, and how they dominate at the line of scrimmage.”

However, if he has to play offense, he knows that he is protecting one of the most exciting players in the state at the quarterback position.

“Peyton is a leader and knows what’s going on. He communicates well and makes quick decisions, which helps the line stay in sync and play with confidence.”

Speaking of confidence, that is also something Speight has after having a great offseason highlighted by a dominant performance at the Gridiron Football Elite Camp that was actually held at his school back in March.

“I enjoyed competing against top talent and learning from great coaches. It showed me where I stand and where I can improve. I picked up a lot of new techniques and drills I’ve added to my training.”

He also added an invite to play in the 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game at the end of the season thanks to his strong performance.

“It’s a blessing. I’m grateful for the opportunity and plan to make the most of it. It’s another chance to represent my school, my teammates, and show what I can do on a big stage.”

Before playing his last high school game on Gridiron’s biggest stage, he is focused on helping bring back one of Louisiana’s powerhouse programs a championship.

“Expect a team that’s hungry, disciplined, and ready to compete for a championship. We’ve put in the work, and we’re going to play with heart every game.”

“It means everything. Evangel is more than just a program. It’s family. Wearing that jersey comes with pride, responsibility, and a tradition I’m proud to be a part of.”

Christian Speight wants to make a lot of people proud not only what he does on the field, but off the field.

“I want to thank God, my parents, my coaches, and my teammates. They’ve pushed me, supported me, and kept me focused on what matters most.”

When it comes to playing at the next level, Christian Speight’s message for college coaches is simple.

“I’m a leader, a hard worker, and I do whatever it takes to help the team win. I bring toughness, consistency, and a team first mindset on and off the field.”
