DITR : LB Cooper Zimmer Althoff Catholic High School (Belleville, Illinois)

Cooper Zimmer is a student-athlete currently at Althoff Catholic High School as part of the class of 2025. Cooper, stands tall at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 230 pounds, boasts an impressive GPA of 3.20. On the football field, playing as a linebacker and tight end this season, he made 66 tackles, recorded 7 sacks, and intercepted the ball twice. Notably, he returned one interception for a touchdown, showcasing his defensive prowess and ability to impact the game. His quickness in rushing off the edge past opponents and closing in on the ball carrier showcases his exceptional pursuit skills. What are your biggest accomplishments?

” I consider my greatest accomplishment to be mastering two new positions within a span of fewer than four months and assuming significant roles on both sides of the ball for my team.”

What player do you compare yourself to and why?

On the defensive side of the ball I would compare my self to Fred Warner or Devondre Campbell. I really love the way the play the game and try to model mine similar to theres.” But when i get to rush the edge I like Rashan Gary because I love to wreak havoc on the offense. On offense I really like Sam Laporta because we have the same frame and can block very well.”

What are your plans once you’re done with football and why?

“As of right now I have in interest into engineering, or being a project manager. That’s subject to change though as time goes on.”

What are some goals you have for yourself, and your team next season?

“I personally want to have 100 tackles, 5 interceptions, 12 sacks, and 10 touchdown. But as a team our goal is to be 14-0 and win a state championship. We have unfinished business.”

What do you like about the sport of football and how is it significant to you?

“I really like the game of football because it really brings out a side of me that is only brought out on the field.

What is an interesting fact about you outside of football?

“In my free time I love work as a volunteer for a humane society and also fostering animals that are in search of a new home.”

What is your dream school?

“I don’t have a specific dream school in mind. Instead, I’m open to exploring and choosing the university that best suits my needs and aspirations. I’m leaning towards a school that’s far from home, as I’m excited about the prospect of experiencing a new environment.”

What position do you enjoy playing the most and why?

“My preferred position on the field is linebacker, particularly as an outside linebacker where I have the flexibility to roam, cover receivers in the slot, and blitz off the edge.”

What are some ways your coaches have helped you?

“Having Coach Austin Frazier’s unwavering belief in my abilities truly makes a significant difference for me. Knowing he’s fully supportive and always has my back gives me the confidence to perform at my best on and off the field.”

What colleges have you received any offers or interest from if any and what is your dream college to play for?

“I have received interest from Illinois State, Miami (oh), Fordham, Morehead State and some others colleges. As of right now I don’t hold any football offers.”
