DITR-Keagan Ables

Keagan Ables is a 6’0″ 200 lbs quarterback for the Hawley Bearcats in Hawley, Texas. Keagan is the next quarterback up for the Bearcats, replacing Rodey Hooper. Being the backup for the state champs last year, Keagan was able to play some while learning underneath Hooper. Last season, he threw for 4 touchdowns and added in a rushing touchdown. With solid size and a chance to lead the Bearcats to another state championship for the next 2 years, Keagan is prime to make an impact. Check out our Q&A below!

When do you start playing football?

6th grade, and pads in 7th grade

What is your favorite thing about playing football?

Being around my teammates. We’re all brothers and it’s a bond you don’t get from any other sport

What have you learned the most from your coach?

To be a leader

What has been your favorite football memory?

This past year. Fun season and winning state was awesome

What sports do you play outside of football?

Basketball, track and baseball.

Joe Burrow

Cincinnati Bengals

Who do you consider to be your role model?

My parents. They’ve always held me accountable, and led me to where I am today

How do you balance school and football?

Work out in the mornings, then focus on school time when it is school time.

How do you prepare for a game?

Watching the film the Saturday after, and watching the film of the next team

What is your favorite pregame meal?

A few peanut butter & jelly sandwiches

What is the best aspect of your game?

My mind. My dad is a coach, and being around him and the game has really helped me

What separates you from others?

My hard work, especially in the weight room

What is your definition of being a good teammate?

Picking your teammates up when they are down. Also knowing when to hold someone accountable
