DITR: DE Errol West, Ryan High School (Denton, Texas)

Errol West is an electrifying defensive end from the class of 2026. The athletic specimen stands 6 feet tall, and weighs in at 245 lbs. Errol is an absolute monster on the defensive line, swallowing up space and disrupting the backfield on every snap. He is a very decorated athlete, earning 1st team All District and 3rd team All State last season. Errol’s sheer size is one reason he dominates, but the strength that he posses is the real reason. His bull rush move is unstoppable, so don’t expect a single lineman to successfully block him. Errol regularly commands a double team, and will still make the play with multiple bodies on him. He also displays amazing footwork with a speedy jump off the line. He currently holds offers from University of North Texas and Texas State. While those are still amazing programs, I am surprised Errol has not garnered more attention. Still having two more years of high school ball to play, I have no doubt Errol will go into his collegiate years as a 3 star or higher. He had an amazing season, totaling 73 tackles, 12 sacks, and 27 quarterback hurries. He has posted multiple double-digit tackle games, as well as a stellar 5 sack performance against Lake Belton. Errol has an innate ability to find the quarterback, no matter the obstacle. His weight room stats are even more mind boggling. Errol posts an impressive 545 lb squat, 320 lb clean, and bench presses 340 lbs. Errol is a very smart kid, holding a 3.5 GPA out of 4. Overall, Errol is a player that you can’t forget about next season.

Why do you love the game of football?

To be real, I just thought it was a fun thing to do when I first started playing. It got serious when I started meeting people that became like family to me. I see the people I play with as my brothers. I would do anything for my family, so that made me fall in love with the game.

What would you consider your biggest strength on the field?

My pass rush for sure. Also how I impact my side of the field and how my coaches can call plays based off of that.

What are some goals for yourself, and team next season?

A goal for myself is to make All-State again, but I want first team, not third. I would like to have a more impactful season this year. That means more sacks, more hurries, more tackles. I want teams to have to gameplan around me. For my team, I want to go all the way to State.

You guys had a tough loss in the area finals of the Texas State Playoffs. How is the team learning from that loss to improve for next year?

We learned not to take anything for granted. We can’t start off slow and think that you can just catch back up. Not everything is given to you so we’re just working on being better every single day.

What is the hardest part of playing in the trenches?

Eye- hand coordination for sure.

Who do you try and model your game after?

Aidan Hutchinson on the Detroit Lions.

Do you have a favorite personal highlight of yourself?

Definitely running down Micah Hudson. (5 star Texas Tech wide receiver commit)

What is your biggest improvement since you started playing football?

I had a big jump from last year to this one. Last year I had 10 tackles and this year I had 73. I listened to my coaches, and believed in myself and that really helped me.

What is your dream college to play football for?

Either Arkansas or LSU.

I have a hypothetical for you as a lineman. Would you rather get an interception off the line, or return a fumble for a TD?

An interception for sure.

What is your way too early Super Bowl prediction for next season?

I think the Eagles are gonna win it against the Chiefs.
