DITR: D’antwone Hopkins

D’antwone Hopkins is a class of 2023 safety and wide receiver for Union Parrish High School. He benches 195, squats 380, power cleans 185, and runs 4.5 40. He maintains a 3.0 GPA. He is a speedy and aggressive safety and uses his strength to his advantage. He has experience as both a safety and wide receiver giving him an understanding of both sides of the ball. “I like Hopkins ability to diagnose plays and react to what the offense is giving them,” said coach Andy, “D’antwone is a Diamond In The Rough.”

Tell me a little bit about yourself. I’m from Spearsdille, LA, I like to go outside and be active. I like to go fishing with my family. I like to work out and get stronger.

What made you play football? My dad, he inspired me to play he played the same positions as me. I love to make plays, the game is fun, and I get to play with my friends.

What is going through your mind before a game? I just listen to music and think about what I have to do to win and communicate with my team.

What is something you’ve learned in football that you’ve been able to apply in everyday life? Making friends, helping others. I like to teach people what I know of the game. I like to play the Safety position because I get to read the plays. I watch a lot of film on teams so I can recognize the formations. I have learned that I am a leader on and off the field.

What is an academic and athletic goal you have set for this year? My Academic goal for this year is that I improve my GPA. My Athletic Goal is, I want to get a championship before I leave.

What is the best advice you have received from a coach regarding football? Life is a 4 quarter game don’t give up before the game is over and keep going.

What is something that keeps you motivated to be a great athlete? My grandma. She passed away. She motivates me to make her proud and my family.

What are you most excited for when you think about your future in football? I work hard everyday so I can earn a College offer. I want to play in the NFL one day. So I work out all the time, I watch film all the time. I am dedicated to making myself better everyday.
