DITR: ATH Josiah Morton, Salmen High School (Slidell, LA)

Josiah Morton is a 5’10, 140lb. athlete who plays both cornerback and wide receiver at Salmen High School in Slidell, Louisiana and is in the Class of 2025. Josiah is a good student-athlete with a GPA of a 2.9 and recently got a chance to participate at the Gridiron Football Elite Camp in Covington, where he was able to show off his skills as a multi-position athlete and test his potential against other players from different parts of Louisiana.

What are some things you overcome in life?

Things overcame in life is dealing with family situations and moving to different schools and states.

What are your biggest accomplishments?

My biggest accomplishments so far in life are that I’m keeping up with grades and just got a job.

What player do you compare yourself to and why?

A player that I compare myself to is A.J Terell, Derek Stingley, and WR George Pickens because all these athletes are physical and play like they ready to hit.

What are your plans once you’re done with football?

Once I’m done with football I’m planning on already having a business or having a top job with good pay.

What are some goals/new things you want to accomplish this upcoming season?

Things I want to accomplish for this upcoming season is be able to acquire 25 tackles, 5 INT, at least 1 pick six and a lot of deflected passes.

What do you like about the sport of football and how is it significant to you?

I really just loved the game since I was young and as growing up I always wanted to know what it feels like to be on tv and on a field with good competition.

What is an interesting thing about you outside of football?

One thing about me outside of football is that I love to explore and go fishing on my free time.  

What is your dream college to play for?

Dream college to play for is either Ohio state, Florida or LSU.

How did it feel to participate in the camp and what was the most interesting thing about it?

Being at the camp really just made me want the game of football even more because it’s getting close for me going to college and I need to get my name out there. And my most favorite part was 1 on 1 and 7v7.
