Destrehan 4 Star Safety Jhase Thomas Commits To LSU

Shortly after receiving an offer from the LSU Tigers, Destrehan High School 2025 four star safety Jhase Thomas has committed to the Bayou Bengals.

The second-generation defensive back announced his decision today on his birthday as he picked the Tigers over the likes of Texas Tech, Houston, Ole Miss, and Colorado. The 6’3, 180 pound safety is the son of longtime NFL veteran Fred Thomas, who was a 12 year defensive back for the Seattle Seahawks and the New Orleans Saints.

“When it comes to who is the smartest on the field, me and my dad are equal. We have an equal high football I.Q. He was a little faster while I was the more muscular guy. He may tell you a little different, but I get everything from him. We are built differently, but we are the same person.”

With his defensive back background, Thomas has made the seamless transition from offense to defense where he has helped lead one of the top programs in the state of Louisiana.

Thomas has made an impact on the LSU defensive coaching staff including defensive coordinator Blake Baker and safeties coach Jake Olsen after seeing him at the spring game against Edna Karr and after his brilliant performance at LSU’s Elite Camp where he ran a 4.4/40. Thomas talked about the recruiting process and how hectic it was getting after the spring game.

“The recruiting process is getting hectic and after this game, it is getting more hectic. I’m glad I was able to show everybody what I can do.”

Destrehan continues its already impressive bloodline to LSU after producing players like Justin Jefferson and more recently, Thomas’ former teammate Kolaj Cobbins.
