D.I.T.R.: Hieko Malone

Hieko Malone is a 6’0″ 187 lbs tight end and defensive end playing for Newton High School under Coach Drew Johnston. A two-way player for the Eagles, Malone makes plays on both sides of the ball, and is someone who helps out this program. Check out our Q&A below!

When do you start playing football?

2nd grade.

What is your favorite thing about playing football?

I just love the sport. 

What have you learned the most from your coach?

It does not matter how many people you got or your size, give it your all

What is your favorite football memory?

Beating Daingerfield the last few seconds of the playoff game last season

What sports do you play outside of football?

Basketball and track

James Sylvester

Minnesota Vikings

My dad

How do you balance school and football?

Working hard and making sure I excel in both aspects

I prepare through practice, paying attention to the scripts and what we do

Subway chicken teriyaki sandwich

My pass rushing

My determination, I don’t give up
