Saturday night in Statesboro, GA, Louisiana’s Ragin Cajuns took down Georgia Southern by the score of 37-24 at Allen Paulson Stadium. Running behind Trey Ragas and Elijah Mitchell, which is now expected, the Cajuns offense compiled 440 yards of total offense against the Eagles. Ragas finished with 131 yards and 2 scores, while Mitchell added 81 yards and 2 scores.
Levi Lewis was silently efficient again for Louisiana, going 11-18 for 165 yards and a touchdown. For Georgia Southern, Shai Werts returned from injury and rushed for 95 yards against the Cajuns defense. Louisiana’s defense was a big difference maker in this game, shutting down the Eagles on 3rd down and applying pressure on a QB who can’t throw the football well. Now, the Cajuns come back home to host the biggest game of the year.
Louisiana (4-1) will host Appalachian State (4-0) on October 9 at 7 pm and will be nationally televised on ESPN2. ESPN has Louisiana as the favorite to win the remainder of their games, according to the Football Power Index. This game will show a lot of people what this Louisiana team is truly made of, and if you have no plans on a Wednesday night, head out to Cajun Field and enjoy what’s going to be one of the best games this year in the region!
