BREAKING NEWS: U-High (Baton Rouge, LA) WR/K/P Granville Anderson II Commits To The Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game

Playing for the U-High Cubs as one of the most diverse players in the Baton Rouge area, Granville Anderson II has committed to play in the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game. On one of the most talented teams and most established football programs in South Louisiana, the 5’10, 175 pound receiver has had a prolific high school career as he is a two time 1st Team All-District selection as a wide receiver and is a two time All-District selection as a kicker/punter. As a junior, Anderson set a single season receiving record with 60 catches for 611 yards and nine touchdowns. Moving ahead to his senior season, he did not have more catches, but he made more explosive plays as he finished his final campaign with 49 grabs for 789 yards and 10 touchdowns.

What sets Anderson apart as a receiver is his incredible quick feet hence his soccer background and his ability as a route runner. Speaking of his soccer background, the multi-sport athlete has also been the team’s starting kicker and punter. In two years, he has combined to make 137 of 143 total kicks (field goals/extra points) and averaged over 45 yards per punt. His biggest highlight over his incredibly productive career was when he kicked the game winning field goal to defeat fellow Baton Rouge powerhouse Catholic High 31-30 in early September.

With a 4.6 GPA and a 27 ACT score, Granville Anderson II is the total package as a student athlete and he has earned plenty of scholarship offers as he has been offered by Grambling, Northwestern State, Rose-Hulman, Louisiana Christian, Carleton College, Centenary College, Tufts University, Graceland University, Kentucky State, and a PWO from South Alabama. He would like to add on to the list when he takes part in the 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game that will be taking place in his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana at Memorial Stadium for December 30th.

“It’s an honor. Most kids don’t get the opportunity to play in a bowl game like that. I feel honored that I get to be recognized as a special athlete in the state of Louisiana.”
