BREAKING NEWS: Northwest High School (Opelousas, LA) RB Ja’Vain Reese Commits To The Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game

One of the leading rushers in the state of Louisiana has committed to play in the 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game in Northwest High School (Opelousas, LA) running back Ja’Vain Reese. The Raiders senior running back is one of two players representing the Silver and Black in the bowl game as his teammate Mackenzie Ardoin is playing in the game as well. Both Reese and Ardoin played major roles in Chris Edwards’ squad having an incredible Cinderella run that got the program their first ever appearance in the semifinals.

The 5’7, 195 pound back was the bellcow for the Raiders’ strong rushing attack as he ran his way into a 1st Team All-State campaign with an outstanding 1,925 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns. This is not the first time that Reese has been recognized by Gridiron Football as he was one of our Players of the Week this year when he ran for 176 yards and five touchdowns including the game winning two point conversion for the Raiders to advance to the Division II (Non-Select) Semifinals.

After watching Reese one, you would think he is 6’3, 250 pounds like his idol Derrick Henry. Even though the former Gridiron Football POTW may not be the biggest back, he runs with a lot of power as he has the ability to bounce off defenders and not go down with a single arm tackle. Also, the explosiveness and vision when he hits the hole is as good as anybody in the state of Louisiana. Despite the productivity, Reese is still searching for his first college offer, but he is hoping a great performance in the 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game on Saturday, December 30th at Memorial Stadium will help his chances of playing at the next level.

“It really means a lot to play in the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game.”

Northwest High School 2024 RB Ja’Vain Reese

Although Ja’Vain Reese was a high school football star, he wants people to know that the success he had as a senior does not get to his head as he is a cool and laid back person to be around.
