Neville High School (Monroe, La.) defensive back Vincent Butcher, Jr. has committed to play in the fifth annual Gridiron Football All-American Bowl.
This season, the three-year letterman had 51 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 10 quarterback hurries, 3 pass breakups and a forced fumble. For his efforts, he was named to the first team All-District team.
“It means a lot for me to play in the Gridiron All-American Bowl because I get to showcase my talent.”
Although Butcher hasn’t received any offers, he has gotten interest from Louisiana Christian, Dartmouth College and Centenary College of Louisiana.
Butcher likes to model his game after former All-Pro safety Kam Chancellor, who was a member of the Seattle Seahawks’ “Legion of Boom” secondary.
“He had great instincts and speed to the ball. He also had a great ability to get around blocks.”
After he graduates from college, Butcher wants to be a physical therapist.
