Bleeding Purple and Gold…

There is no use trying to put lipstick on a pig – LSU’s loss to Alabama on Saturday was a miserable disappointment.  That being said, wounded by the loss, LSU’s faithful fans are bleeding purple and gold this week.  However, putting things in perspective, LSU and Alabama have the same record on the season with one loss each and there are still four games left to play.  We all remember the year when LSU was the SEC champion after beating Alabama in regular season play only to have to play them again for the national championship.  Who knows how the season will end…. Stranger things have happened….  So bandage your wounds, Tiger faithful, and gear up to finish strong!

LSU seemed to be in the game until the half, but early in the second half when Brandon Harris threw his first interception of the season, it seemed as if the team’s confidence left the field.  Despite being on the field for two thirds of the game, the defense did have some good plays.  They produced three good sacks and held Alabama to field goals twice in the red zone.  They managed to prevent a score by holding steady in the red zone until the clock ran out in the first half.

Comparing the total statistics to date on the season for LSU and upcoming opponent Arkansas, the match up will be a challenging one.  However, when looking at Arkansas’s cumulative stats for the year, one must remember that they have played one more game than LSU since LSU’s first game was cancelled due to weather.  Arkansas has also played only four SEC opponents while LSU has already played five SEC opponents.  Even with this – LSU beats Arkansas in several stats for the season to date!  Arkansas has lost four games already when compared to LSU’s one loss.  If the LSU team and the fans can shake off the loss at Alabama, I predict we will win this game and the rest of the games in the season.  Geaux Tigers!
