An ESPN FPI Look at LSU’s Upcoming Schedule

The Tigers are coming off a huge win in Death Valley against UGA 36-16 this weekend. Being back in the saddle and controlling their own destiny LSU now sits at #5 in both the AP and Coaches polls. The loss in Week 6 to SEC East opponent Florida was very disappointing, but with only five games remaining on their schedule, four being SEC West opponents, Coach Ed Orgeron has the Tigers ready.

ESPN recently did a simulation with their Football Power Index (FPI), which is a simulation-based metric ratings system to predict LSU’s chances of winning those final five games. ESPN’s Football Power Index

  • Oct 20 vs. Mississippi State: 58.9%
  • Nov 3 vs. Alabama: 24.4%
  • Nov 10 @ Arkansas: 88.2%
  • Nov 17 vs. Rice: 99.6%
  • Nov 24 @ Texas A&M 49.5%

The SEC West can be argued to be the best division in college football, and as people would expect LSU is favored against Arkansas, however I think many would disagree with the lopsided favoring of Alabama, and fans might be surprised by the slight favor of LSU over Miss St. One thing is for certain though, after a huge win over Georgia this weekend Coach O will have the Tigers ready to play against whoever they take on.
