Gage Hossieni is a 5’11”, 165 lb. QB out of Grant HS in Creole, LA. He has a 3.5 GPA. As a sophomore, Hossieni saw the field plenty but has yet to make his first varsity start. With some levels of experience and a complete off-season to compare, he expects himself to be the one leading the offense, but the team comes together when the season begins in August. This past season was one that was full of growth and an opportunity to learn and adjust to the pace of varsity football. He showed flashes, but this season will be the year it all comes together.

Q/A:

What’s something football has taught you?

Football has taught me discipline, accountability, and how to handle adversity. I’ve been playing since I was 4, and over the years it’s shown me the importance of consistency, hard work, and staying focused on long-term goals. As a quarterback, I’ve also learned leadership, how to communicate, earn trust, and put the team first. I believe these lessons will help me succeed in college because I know how to manage my time, stay committed to improvement, and push through challenges both on and off the field.

Regarding playing at the next level, what exactly are you looking for?

I would rather focus on D1 programs, but whatever college is the best fit for me, I will take. But I want to compete at the highest level of college football. I want a team that will challenge me on the field and will help me grow as a quarterback and has a strong team culture while also balancing my life after football.

Are there any parts of college football that make you nervous?

Not necessarily nervous but just adjusting to the speed and physicality. I know it’s a big step up from high school, and I want to make sure I can keep up and perform at a high level.

What are you looking forward to the most regarding college football?

Competing against the best players, improving every day, and being part of a team that pushes each other to get better. I can’t wait to take my game to the next level and make an impact on and off the field.

What is your why?

To make my family proud when I do get the chance, especially my dad. The person who’s pushed me the most to become the player and person I am today is my dad. He’s always pushed me to work hard, stay disciplined, and hold myself accountable both on and off the field. He taught me how to handle challenges, stay focused on my goals, and keep improving every day, which has shaped not just my football skills but my character as well.

What is something younger players could learn from you?

One lesson a younger teammate could learn from my journey is the importance of hard work and consistency. I’ve always set goals, taken the game seriously, and put in the work every day to improve. I want younger players to see that staying focused, being disciplined, and committing to getting better consistently is what helps you grow both as a player and as a person.

What is your goal going into college?

My goals coming into college are that I’m coming in to compete right away. I want to learn the system as fast as possible, earn the respect of my teammates, and put myself in a position to play. At the same time, I know it’s a process, so I’m focused on getting better every day and being ready whenever my number’s called. Balancing school, football, and life shaped my time management by making me a lot more disciplined.

What goals do you have for yourself aside from football?

Outside of football, I’m trying to grow as a person and figure out what I want to do long-term. I want to explore different academic interests, build relationships, and develop skills that will set me up for life after football. I’m really focused on becoming a better man, not just a better player.

Go to pregame song?

My go-to pre-game song is probably “Feed the Streets” by Rod Wave.

Favorite pre-game meal?

The meal that I like before games is probably the steak that our people for the team cook.
