Zach Poynter is a current Senior at Haynes Academy High School with a GPA of 3.77. Poynter is a multi-sport athlete. While balancing time with family and academics, he also has mastered juggling not two, but three different sports! I believe this is a great testament to the character and qualities Poynter holds. Most know the discipline, requirements, skill, and expectation that come with one sport alone, but to play three completely different sports and still be just as dedicated to them all-it really is inspiring. It is no doubt that Zach is driven, organized, and disciplined. Q & A
How do you perceive yourself?
As a person, I would say I’m pretty approachable and easy to get along with. As an athlete, I think I can be seen as strong and fast.
What were some key takeaways you gained from your experience playing in the Bowl Game?
I think that chemistry between athletes in general was huge for me because none of us really knew each other, but we played together as if that were the opposite. Then, just the overall importance of that teamwork was drilled into me more.
What other sports do you play and why?
I play baseball and basketball too. My mom put me in every sport as a kid, and those were the three that I kinda stuck with.
What do you think makes you stand out?
I’m very hardworking. I give my 110% to everything I commit to because I understand the importance of what comes with commitments.
What are your goals for when you finish playing sports?
Ideally, my goal would be to get my degree in nursing and do that. I really enjoy helping people and making their lives feel lighter because I know just how heavy it can all feel sometimes.
