One of the best tacklers in the state of Texas has committed to play in the 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, which will be held at Louisiana Christian University in Pineville, Louisiana on Tuesday, December 30th, and that is Lufkin High School (Lufkin, TX) LB Desmen Hood Jr.
At 6’1, 220 pounds with 4.6/40 speed, Hood is a tenacious player as he is not only a great tackler sideline to sideline and in open space, but he can also shed blocks and tackle ball carriers in the middle of the field. His explosiveness as a defender and his high motor is most impressive as he never takes plays off. That combination has allowed him to become one of the best linebackers in the state of Texas.
After having a solid junior season finishing with 39 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks, and an interception, Hood has increased his level of play even more as his role increased this year. For his senior season, Hood earned 1st Team All-State, 1st Team All-District, Defensive Player of the Year, and Linebacker of the Year honors with a staggering 130 tackles, 11 TFLs, and 6 PBUs.
Desmen Hood may be one of the biggest hidden gems in the entire Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game as he is not only a big, physical linebacker that can run over 20 miles per hour, but he also has a 3.2 GPA in the classroom. Currently, he has offers from East Central University and Western New Mexico University. He is looking forward to showcasing his skills and playing in front of college coaches at this year’s bowl game.
