Gridiron Football Player of the Week: Liberty Magnet High School (Baton Rouge, LA) 2026 RB Zaiden Foster:

The Week 2 Gridiron Football Player of the Week is Liberty Magnet High School 2026 running back Zaiden Foster, who exploded for a huge game against the White Castle Bulldogs as new head coach Andy Boone made a statement by scoring 72 points for their first win of the season. Foster only had 7 carries for 235 yards and 3 TDs while also having a catch for 32 yards and finally, 90 return yards and a return TD plus a 2 point conversion. By himself, he accounted for 26 of the team’s points to help get an eye opening win over the Bulldogs.

2. St. Edmund 2025 QB Kane West: 4,050 votes

St. Edmund High School 2025 QB Kane West is entering his third year as the starting quarterback for the Blue Jays and the passing game has gotten to a hot start. Known for their running game, the Blue Jays have shown their ability to attack teams in the passing game. That was evident in their 54-19 win over Thomas Jefferson as West threw for over 300 yards and 5 TDs to defeat the Jaguars.

3. Westwood (TX) 2027 QB Kavian Bryant: 3,250 votes

The reigning Gridiron Football Player of the Year is back in contention for the title in Westwood High School (TX) 2027 QB Kavian Bryant and the Panthers’ sensational sophomore signal caller had another dynamic performance leading his team to a 63-34 win over Timpson completing 10 of 12 passes for 202 yards and 4 TDs while also having 6 carries for 122 yards and 2 TDs to account for 324 total yards and 6 total scores in the win to give Westwood an undefeated start to the season.

4. Northwest 2025 QB Jayden Chavis: 3,235 votes

Northwest High School 2025 QB Jayden Chavis had an efficient performance in a 50-14 win over Rayne as he completed 11 of 12 passes for 244 yards and 4 TDs while also having 5 carries for 15 yards and a fifth TD on the ground in order for the Raiders to have an impressive early season statement win over the Wolves.

5. Hamilton Christian 2027 ATH Javon Vital: 2,606 votes

It is amazing to point out that Hamilton Christian 2027 ATH Javon Vital had 375 total yards of offense and six total touchdowns in only one half of football in a 60-7 win over Highland Baptist. Vital also did it in multiple different ways as he completed 12 of 15 passes for 155 yards and 2 TDs; had 5 carries for 115 yards and 2 TDs, and even had two punt returns for 105 yards and 2 more TDs scoring in three different ways for the Warriors.

6. Madison Prep 2025 WR Keyon Robinson: 714 votes

The top receiving target for Madison Prep Tylan Johnson during the 52-43 shootout loss to Mandeville is 2025 wide receiver Keyon Robinson, who had 7 catches for 266 yards and two touchdowns. Robinson averaged close to 40 yards a catch and turned out to be a big play receiver when the Chargers needed it.

7. Westwood (TX) 2025 OLB Derik Boston Anderson: 616 votes

Our only defensive player of the week finalist from Week 2 is Westwood High School (TX) 2025 DE/OLB Derik Boston Anderson, who made a living in Timpson’s offensive backfield during a 63-34 win with 13 total tackles (10 solo, 3 assists), 2 PBUs, 6 TFLs, and 2 sacks.

8. D’Arbonne Woods Charter 2027 RB Xavier Rawls-Stromile: 360 votes

D’Arbonne Woods Charter 2027 RB Xavier Rawls-Stromile took advantage of his limited opportunities. Despite only having six carries, Stromile scored three touchdowns and ran for 165 yards. That is an incredible average of 27 yards per carry. His explosive runs helped his team to get a 49-21 win over Bearden High School in Arkansas.

9. Leesville 2025 RB Xavier Ford: 234 votes

For the second week in a row, Leesville 2025 running back Xavier Ford makes the list after another astonishing rushing performance. This time, it came in a victory and in a 49-32 win over Tioga, the Wampus Cats leaned heavily on their workhorse running back with 31 carries for 400 yards and six touchdowns. Xavier Ford’s production has been incredible and is already a season’s worth with 700 yards and 12 touchdowns through just 12 games.

10. Liberty Magnet 2025 RB Dedrick Welch: 194 votes

Liberty Magnet High School 2025 running back Dedrick Welch was the perfect running back to counter our player of the week’s performance as he did not have a shabby day either running the football in an explosive scoring affair for the Patriots. They did not let the gas pedal as Welch was equally impressive as his counterpart and player of the week Zaiden Foster’s performance with 13 carries for 205 yards and 5 TDs plus a two point conversion accounting for 32 of Liberty’s 72 points in their eye opening win over White Castle.

11. Madison Prep 2025 QB Tylan Johnson: 134 votes

Just ahead of Nate Sheppard based on votes is the quarterback that Mandeville faced and that is Madison Prep 2025 signal caller Tylan Johnson. One of the Red Stick’s top quarterbacks put on a show in a surging second half performance as the Chargers quarterback provided a spark completing 21 of 31 passes for 409 yards and four touchdowns in a 52-43 losing effort.

12. Mandeville 2025 RB Nate Sheppard: 51 votes

Mandeville High School star running back and Duke commit Nate Sheppard put on another big time show last Friday against a talented Madison Prep team that you will be seeing on this list. It was a high scoring 52-43 affair in which the Skippers came out on top, and it was the performance of Sheppard that makes our list as he had 164 rushing yards and six total touchdowns to help Mandeville get a big early season win!
