DITR: Landon Johnson ATH Madison Prep (Baton Rouge, LA)

Welcome our latest Diamond in the Rough Landon Johnson, the athlete out of the class of 2027! Landon is an all around player recording minutes at 5 separate positions throughout his past season at Madison Prep. Offensively, Landon plays quarterback where he has thrown for 1,430 passing yards and 13 passing touchdowns displaying a conformity with rolling out of the pocket in space and making throws on the run. Landon also runs at the quarterback position as well with 5 rushing touchdowns on the season making him a dual threat out of the backfield. Alongside this, Landon also plays wide receiver where he’s recorded 463 receiving yards and has shown fantastic route running as well as great hands. Landon is extremely quick and has great field vision which is why he also returns punts for the chargers as well, running back 3 touchdowns for the team. Defensively, Landon plays both strong and free safety where he is a ball-hawk that thrives when guarding deep zones in coverage. Overall, Landon is comfortable almost anywhere on the football field due to his wide array of skills to go with his physical gifts standing at 6’1 180lbs in his junior year of high school. He has scored 28 total touchdowns to aid in Madison Prep’s 9-2 record as they continue to compete in the playoffs where Landon hopes to win state.

What got you into football?

Just seeing my dad play it.

Was there a play or moment that made you pick your position?

Nah, I just like playing football and being on the field. It don’t really matter where I play.

Favorite football player and why?

Lamar Jackson and Jameson Williams just because they’re athletes.

What’s your strongest football attribute?

Me being a playmaker, I can make a play whenever and wherever.

Who would you compare your playstyle to?

Either Jameson Williams or Travis Hunter because of their versatility.

What differentiates you from the rest?

I can play whatever position you put me at. I’m an athlete and I’m a dog.

Favorite move to hit on the field?

Probably the stiff arm.

Dream NFL teammate?

Jameson Williams, I just like his swag and his playstyle.

Underrated part about football?

The physicality of it all.

Favorite part about football?

Just being able to go out there and showing people what I can do at all times.
