Both crowds were full on a chilly night in St. Amant as both teams where looking for a district win for the upcoming playoffs. With this being said the cannon would shortly fire as St. Amant would begin the game with the ball, taking their return all the way to their own 35 yard line. They would start the game off on the wrong foot though as Prairieville’s Brycen Glover would intercept the first pass of the game putting the ball in their hands in field goal range. Prairieville would start their first drive shaky as they have a short few first plays resulting in their quarterback Skylar Kelly running to convert on fourth down. St. Amant’s Cooper Babin is able to convert and score a touchdown on a run tying the score at 14-14. Prairieville in response begins to march down the field on their next drive with Tahj Wallace, Skylar Kelly, and Jayce Harlsen are each all able to run for a first down. But then, St. Amant’s Jeremy Whatley was able to pick up back to back sacks that brought the drive to a screeching halt. These sacks would force Prairieville to kick for a field goal in scoring position due to the time on the second quarter running to an end. This would put Prairieville up 17-14 going into halftime.
Coming out of halftime Prairieville would start with the football at their own 30 yard line. Unfortunately for them though St. Amant’s defense line picked up right where they left off as C’jay Francois is able to pick up a sack. Jeremy Whatley would also continue to show up big for St. Amant as he is able to pick up an interception giving St. Amant the ball in scoring position. This drive would never properly start as Jeremy Whatley is able to pick up his third sack of the day that would force Prairieville to punt the ball back to St. Amant. With the ball St. Amant quickly stacked unto their lead as Cooper Babin threw to Jermichael Millien for a passing touchdown that would put them up at 42-24. After this, Prairieville is able to bring a return all the way to midfield. With this field position they would pick up a first down that was quickly offset by a sack from Anden Millet and Mylez Hebert. Prairieville would recover but, a second St. Amant sack on fourth down caused them to turn the ball over. With the ball St. Amant is able to pick up two big gains off a 20 yard run by Cooper Babin and a 40 yard catch by Jourden Hickerson. Then, St. Amant scores off a pass to Riley Rizzuto thus making the score 49-24.
