DITR: Hudson Wright QB Metairie Park Country Day (Metairie, LA)

Hudson Wright is my Diamond in the Rough for Wednesday, Wright is an athletic quarterback for the Cajuns. Wright stands at 6 feet tall and weighing 160lbs. Hudson possesses great versatility for the team running a 4.9 yard 40 yard dash and a 340lb squat as well as 210lb bench press. Hudson Wright also has an incredible ability to keep plays alive by finding space outside of the pocket on plays when they break down, as well as having great accuracy while on the run. Wright always keeps his vision up field on most plays and finding open receivers when coverage breaks down.

This is my interview that I held with the Senior Quarterback.

“When did you begin playing Football?”

“I mean, I’ve been playing Football my whole life. I have done Flag Football before I played in High School.”

“What is your favorite part about Football?”

“I would say just being with my guys, being with my family, my teammates, making memories with them on and off the field. I think that is the best part.”

“Who is your favorite player either in the NFL or College?”

“I grew up a big Alabama fan, I am a big Bryce Young guy. I like who he is as a person and as a player and I like the swag he plays with”

“Do you play any other sports?”

“I used to but once I stepped into High School ball, I really made sure Football is my focus. I played a little Baseball in middle school. I have been really focused on Football.”

“How are you balancing between school and athletics?”

“I mean balancing school is definitely hard at times, but figuring out what is best for me after practice and coming home and studying to get my work done. I find what works for me and really focus on that.”

“Do you have any offers at this current moment?”

“No offers at moment, not yet.”

“Do you have any schools interested right now?”

“A couple small Division 2 schools, I have been sending them film.”

“Is there any specific school that you are interested in?”

“No anybody who would honestly take a shot on me is all. What I am looking for is an opportunity.”

“What do you plan on studying in college?”

“Either Business or Finance, I think those are good.”

“What has been your greatest challenge since you started playing Football?”

“I am getting over my mental side of the game. I think my mental in my first years of playing Football was mine. I have honed in on that I have a Sport Psychiatrist that I work with weekly. It has changed my outlook on the game and on how I do things pregame and honestly it has been a huge change for me.”

“What are some of your greatest strengths?”

“I think my greatest strength is being a leader, I say that humbly, but of course as a Quarterback you have got to be the leader of your team.”

“What do you think you can improve upon?”

“I think I can definitely improve upon my overall stature. I am a bit of a smaller guy, but that has not been an issue for me. Obviously I want to play at the next level, I need to get more weight on me. I mean just learning the game where there’s always more you can learn like defenses and coverages.”

“What was your favorite moment or game this season?”

“From this season I would definitely say, coming back after missing the first 2 games from a concussion and playing at home against Episcopal. It was a great feeling right out of the gate, breaking through the banner and then coming out and throwing my first Touchdown to my guy Cameron Henry. I think that was the best moment so far.”
