Week 4: Madison Prep defeats West Feliciana 34-21

This Friday night matchup ended with Madison Prep coming out on top 34-21 in a very entertaining game. The Charger offense got off to a quick start as senior quarterback and ULL commit Zeon Chriss connected with Sophomore wide receiver Hezekiah Dantzler for a 49 yard gain. That play eventually set up senior running back Christian Early for an easy 5 yard touchdown run to give Madison prep an early 7-0 lead. The Saints would respond with a touchdown of their own to tie the game at 7-7. On their next possession, Chriss would connect with junior wide receiver Treylan James on an 80 yard bomb to give the chargers great field position. A couple of costly mistakes forced the Chargers into a blocked field goal attempt with a 7-7 score to end the quarter.

Opening the second quarter with a touchdown, the Saints took a 14-7 lead, which they maintained throughout the majority of the second quarter. The Chargers final possession of the first half was important and they responded. A big 4th down conversion led to Chriss hitting freshman wide receiver Semaj Pierre for a touchdown with 58 seconds left for a 14-14 halftime score. In the second half, the Charger defense came out with a different intensity, not allowing West Feliciana’s offense to get much going. Chriss connected with Treylan James multiple times in order to drive the ball down the field and eventually run it in himself to give the chargers a 20-14 lead. After a missed field goal to end the third quarter, the charger offense and defense just absolutely dominated the fourth Quarter and ended the game with a score of 34-21.

Game Standouts: Quarterback Zeon Chriss dazzled in this game, as he showed great poise in the pocket and delivered great throws, while also giving the Chargers ground game a boost with his ability to elude defenders and get out in space. Wide receiver Treylan James, as mentioned before, was also a standout in this game. He had over 100 yards receiving and some big catches to help his team keep the chains moving.

Next Game: Friday at 7 PM, vs Mentorship at Memorial stadium in Baton Rouge, LA.
