Southern vs. Texas Southern

Another nice and chilly night, the smoke of the bbq was rolling the crowd was gathering into the stands of A.W Mumford stadium for the big Texas Southern and Southern Jaguar game! You can feel the tension in the air as the kickoff began at 6:00pm. The game was a struggle until finally Southern jumped ahead to 7-0 when Tyre Bracken had a 1 yard run into the end zone with 8:56 left in 1st. Finally after a three and out for Texas Southern the Jags Reginald Redding runs for an 88 yard TD. This run made the crowd explode along with the sidelines blast too life this sent the Jags into an unstoppable mode! But with 0:47 seconds left Texas Southern answers back with a 34 yard run by Jimmy Poets too finally run the tigers to a 7-14 score too start the second quarter!
The fight doesn’t end there as the tigers Eric Medina kicks a 29 yard field goal early in the 2nd to put the score 10-14 but though the tigers start up they continue with a fierce punt block return for 22 yards to walk into the end zone! Southern keeps a powerful presence and roars too the end zone with a 9yd run to put Southern back into the game with a 21-17 lead over Texas Southern but after a deadly battle in the trenches the tigers get close enough for a 27yd field goal to catch up to the Jags too roll out of the half. Texas Southern kicks the ball deep into the end zone too bring the Jags too the 22yd line then a quick three and out but neither teams had a chance until the fire roared when southern blocked a punt from Texas Southern to give the Jaguars a chance to score but they are held to a 46yd field goal to put the score at 24-20 for the last score of the game comes early in the 4th quarter! Putting the Jaguars up 30-20 when the drive catches fire with a 46 yard catch by Samuel Altman! Then Lenard Tiller runs for 8 yd TD the night is soothed when the Jaguars celebrate a powerful win over Texas Southern putting the Jags at (7-3, 6-1 in the SWAC)
