Sometimes Super-Stars Become Super-Stars Late In Their Career! By Super Scout Max Emfinger

In January, #55 DE Shaun Jones ran an Incredible 4.1 Pro Shuttle at The Lestini Free Agent Camp in Mobile, Alabama Just Before The Senior Bowl!

As we travel on our Life-Journey, we are constantly “Crossing Paths” where we make different decisions that can and will change lives forever. When we meet people, we either change their lives or not make a change in their life or our life. At my Super Elite Top Gun Football Camps, Lestini Super Combines, and my All-American Bowl Game Classics, some lives are changed forever. I always tell our players in an Opening Speech, to always do their best and never let-up, on every play, because they sometimes will never know who is watching them or Scouting them for Their Team and so they will need to be at their best that they can be on every single play. – “Will I and my Coaches “Remember You” for what you did when we Crossed Paths today or will we never remember you?” – Emfinger

Then in January of 2016, DE Shaun Jones Showed-Up with Ten of his Crescent City Kings Teammates at the Lestini Free Agent Camp and Super Combine. The Crescent City Kings had just Won the 2015 Gridiron Developmental Football League Championship and then lost the National Championship Game.

When John and Mary Jo Lestini invited the Crescent City Kings Football Team to their 2015 Free Agent Camp, it was the opening of a new ERA for both the Camp and for the KingsFranchise. The Crescent City Kings were the First Minor League Professional Football Team in the 15-Year History to be invited as a Team to theLestini Free Agent Super Camp.

Clyde “CJ” Maiden is the Kings Assistant Head Football Coach and Offensive Coordinator and he is also one of my 2016 and 2017 All-American Bowl GameCoaches, and he was the Catalyst in creating this new Great Invitation Plan, that enabled the Kings Players to be able to Showcase their Talent and Skills before CFLand Arena Football Scouts. Another one my 2016 and 2017 All-American Bowl Game Coaches is Coach Andy Bryson, who also Coaches the Defensive Line.

As one of the Lestini Super Scouts, I was especially excited about the possibility of being able to Evaluate, Rate, and Rank all of these Talented Super-Stars of theKings. The Kings are also the First Team in GDFL in History to make it to theGridiron Bowl in 2015 after missing the Playoffs in the Previous Year.

Shaun Jones was the only Kings Player who participated in the 2015 Lestini Free Agent Camp, but this year, 11 Players Participated. Those 11Kings exhibited someGreat Talent and were among some of the Top Players in the Measurement Combine and also in Player Drills.

In my Lestini Combine Notes, I recorded that #72 DE (Shaun Jones) and #4 RB(Luke Shaffer) were Two of the Most Impressive Physical Specimens; and #2 QB(Justin Billiot) and # 18 QB (Evan Ingram) were Impressive.

There were a lot of Spectacular Pro-Shuttles, including a 4.06 by #4 RB (Luke Shaffer); a 4.09 by #6 QB (George Grant); a 3.94 by #9 (Rashad Rich); a 4.12 by #10 WR (Brandon Renford); a 4.13 by #12 FS (Aaron Sam); a 4.1 by #14 WR(Tobias Irby); a 4.19 by QB (Evan Ingram); a 4.1 by Kings #19 WR (Jonathan Warren); a 4.19 by #22 (Ricky Hunt); a 4.19 by Kings #24 (Larry Paisant); a 4.09by #27 WR (Tristian Burbridge); a 4.15 by Kings FS (Keywan Bullock); a 4.31 byKings MLB Lamont Simmons; and a 4.1 by Kings #72 DE (Shaun Jones).

So, both Coach Maiden and Coach Bryson invited me to the Kings First 2016 Game and I was Excited and I went to the Game. In that First Game, against the Lee County Tiger-Cats, the Kings made a lot of Silly Mistakes that cost them the game in a very close 32-28 Loss. Most of their mistakes were in the First Quarter, and theyBattled Back and only lost 32-28, after being Down about 20 Points.

In the First Game, the Kings did not have Game Programs or a Team Roster, but#55 was Unbelievably Impressive as he Recorded 7 Tackles, had 3 Tackles for a Loss, 2 Quarterback Sacks, 3 Quarterback Hurries, 1 Forced Fumble, and a Fumble Recovery. I Found Out later that #55 was Shaun Jones.

Then in the Second Game Against Hammond Bayou Vipers, the Kings, even with all of their Outstanding Talent, still played Uninspired, made a lot of Silly Mistakes again, and lost another close game by a 14-8 Score. In that Game, the Kings Dropped Two Touchdown Passes in the End Zone; the Quarterback overthrew two Wide Receivers in the clear for Touchdowns; Fumbled the Snap on the One-Yard Line twice in a row and did not score; gave up a Safety in the End Zone when the QB threw an under-handed pass that was Ruled as Grounding the Football; and finally Fumbled into the End Zone for a Vipers Touchdown when the Punt Return-Man Fielded a Punt on the One-Yard line. Nuff Said!

During all of this, Stand-up DE Shaun Jones (6-3, 275, 4.65, 32, 4.1, 118) wasSpectacular again as he Recorded 10 Tackles, including 7 Solo Tackles, 3 Sacks, 3 Tackles for a Loss, and 4 QB Hurries.

In the Third Quarter, Jones made a Tackle on the Right Sideline for a Two-Yard Gain with 9:53 Left; then made a Tackle after 10-Yard Gain with 8:47 Left; made aQuarterback Sack for a Minus 14-Yard Loss with 7:50 Left; and finally recorded aQuarterback Pressure with 3:32 Left and a Tackle for a Three-Yard Loss with a2:00 left. I will also add that Jones made Sideline Tackles on both Sidelines. After the First Two Games, Jones has Recorded 18 Tackles, including 10 Solo Tackles,5 Sacks, 6 Tackles for a Loss, and at least 6 Quarterback Hurries.

The Kings Great Defense has only allowed 42-Yards Rushing in their First Two Games and the Defense is not their Problem, because they also have other Great Defensive Players, including #99 NG Tris Stephens (6-4, 310) with 16 Tackles, including a Sack and 6 Tackles for a Loss; #89 DE Martell Jackson (6-3, 240) with14 Tackles, including 4 Tackles for a Loss; #44 LB Lamont Simmons (6-2, 195, 4.56, 36, 4.31, 111) with 12 Tackles, including One Tackle for a Loss; #22 CB Terence Charles with 9 Tackles, including 8 Solo and 1 TFL, and a Tackle on an Extra Point. #24 FS Jordan Baptist has only played one game, but he was Outstanding against theVipers.

The Kings Offense has some Outstanding Skill Players, but except for #73 L-OTJonah Austin (6-6, 330, 5.34) of Nicholls State, after Transferring from LSU, butAustin has only  played one game, and the Kings do not have any other Great Offensive Linemen and they Keep Making the Silly Mistakes which keeps them from getting into the End Zone.

#73 Jonah Austin, #77 John Gustavis

Their Talented QB is #1 Jahmad Goff and he has been an Outstanding Passing QB when he has had time to find his Receivers, but he seems to always be on the run. In theFirst Two Games, Goff has Completed 24 of 54 Passes for 394-Yards and Three Touchdowns. Goff was Averaging a Great 16.4 Yard Average Per Completion andWith Only Two Interceptions.

The Kings have Two Great Possession Wide Receivers in #83 Eben Barra (6-3, 200, 4.6) and #11 Jamiah Sorapuru (5-10, 190, 4.65). With Two Possession  Receivers and a QB without too much time to throw in the Pocket, the Key Questionthat I would ask: Is why don’t they throw more Quick Short Passes. With the Quick Passes, the Kings could March down the Field and Score, but most of their Passes were always the Deep Passes. After Two Games, Barra had 13 Catches for 204-Yards and a Touchdown with a 15.7 Yards Average Per Catch; while Sorapuru had 7 Catchesfor 152-Yards and a Touchdown with a Great 21.7 Yards Per Catch Average.

Lets see how Shaun Jones compared to the Defensive Ends in the 2016 NFL Draft!
