At 5’9, 150 pounds, South Lafourche High School WR Terrance Pitre is not going to pass the eye test, but just turn on the field and you are going to see what kind of baller this Tarpon is.
Over his prep career, that is all Pitre has done for the Tarpons, which is make plays. The numbers and accomplishments are outstanding as the program’s all-time leading receiver also set school records for single season receiving touchdowns and career receiving touchdowns. A lot of that damage has been done from the slot.
“I like to run a post corner in the slot. It’s an easy man beater that creates great separation and gives me the entire sideline to work with to make the catch.”

After being an All-District Honorable Mention selection his sophomore year, he followed that up with a breakthrough junior campaign making 1st Team All-District, 1st Team All-Region, and Honorable Mention All-State while making Team MVP. With all of the success he has shown to this point, being on the smaller end of the spectrum has its benefits.
“As a smaller receiver, I have to use the little things to my advantage. My IQ plays a big role in my game, especially being a former quarterback. I’m able to read the field and know what’s happening before it happens, which helps me get open and run after the catch.”

Pitre has been inspired by another undersized receiver that turned himself into a Heisman Trophy winner and a Super Bowl champion.
“I like to watch Devonta Smith’s highlights to work on my game. With him being a smaller receiver in the league, it’s easy to take stuff he uses and apply it to my game. His route running is elite and he knows how to make the best out of his body.”

Unlike Smith, who was a five star prospect from Amite High School, Pitre is trying to get his name out there on the camp circuit while trying to get his first offer. At the start of the offseason, he has made sure to put the work in order to get the best results as possible.
“Obviously, workouts and conditioning at school has helped, but outside of that, we go often to the park to get in extra work between using the ladder for speed and footwork to doing 1 on 1s, my craft is getting better each day.”

Following his monster junior season, Pitre put that work to the test recently at the Gridiron Football Elite Camp, which was held at John Curtis High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. The result was that Pitre passed with flying colors.
“Coming into the camp, I just wanted to get my name out there coming from a nowhere town that doesn’t get much love. I wanted to get better personally and as a teammate/leader, and I think I accomplished that.”

After running a 4.35 shuttle and a 4.6/40, the athletic, speedy receiver dominated in 1v1s making two circus catches in mid air while impressing coaches and other players alike with his 36 inch vertical. It is his basketball background that has helped him elevate his game on the gridiron. The two sport standout’s resume is just as and maybe more impressive on the hardwood as a two time 1st Team All-District selection, two time All-Region selection, District MVP, and All-State Honorable Mention.
“Being in basketball helps with some of the stuff you don’t focus on the field. As a point guard, a lot of hand eye coordination plays a role as a receiver with making those circus catches you’ve just mentioned. Also, being a multi-sport athlete could potentially help my name get out more for football and basketball.”

His performance earned him an invite to play in the 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, which he will be joined by fellow teammates Joshua Mack and Sawyer Wells.
“It’ll be really nice being on the field with my buddies one last time. Hopefully, we have the season we hope for and could take that into the Bowl Game with some energy. It will be a really special bittersweet moment taking off that bowl game jersey one last time with my boys after this long high school journey we’ve had together.”

Pitre is going to use the momentum for the rest of the summer as he plans on going to multiple cams including at LSU, Southeastern ULL, Northwestern, Tulane, Nicholls, and others. He then is focused on trying to make sure that he and his teammates have a senior season to remember.
“We had a great spring game vs. H.L. Bourgeois winning 42-0. We are senior heavy and have a lot of potential especially dropping from Non-Select Division I to Non-Select Division II. Obviously, it’ll still be a tough path, but dropping a division definitely helps and I feel like if any South Lafourche team could make a deep run, it’s this one.”

When it coems to individual goals, Pitre definitely has his priorities in order.
“I like to work on my speed and try to get that 40 as much as possible heading into the season and my weight as I am sitting at only 150. I’d like to try to get that up during the summer with workouts.”
“I’d like to try to extend my football career by receiving an offer or more throughout the season for myself. I’d also like to make All-State again, but 1st or 2nd Team instead of Honorable Mention along with breaking the rest of the school’s receiving records. As.a team, we’d like to make the playoffs after missing last season and hopefully making a run.”

Along with the physical traits, Terrance Pitre has the mental fortitude on and off the field to be a great addition to any college football program regardless of what his size may read.
“I take the role of STUDENT in student athlete very serious. In the classroom, I do very well maintaining a 4.5 GPA this school year along with a 30 consecutive times on the ACT. I know how important school is for now and the future with getting a job and making a living, which is why my drive to do well is so important to me.”
“My dedication for the game makes me standout. I’ve been playing football since I was five years old. It started with only flag football, but worked to tackle at the middle school level. Once I met Coach Young and high school ball, my love for the game changed completely. I’ve realized how much I love sports. What really helps me set myself apart is going 110% no matter what. Hurt, sore, aggravated, I’m going full speed because one day, the game won’t be with me anymore so need to be grateful for every chance I get.”
