School Spotlight – St. Louis Catholic High School

St. Louis Catholic, we are so thankful for the school and coaches’ generosity in allowing us to host our camp on your home turf!

St. Louis Catholic High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana, carries a prestigious legacy built on the 1970 consolidation of Landry Memorial, St. Charles Academy, and Sacred Heart. As the only Catholic high school in its district, it is renowned for a “House System” that fosters community and a powerhouse athletic program with over 60 state championships! The school’s commitment to excellence is reflected in its high AP Honor Roll standing and a distinguished alumni network that includes True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto, NASA flight controller Holly Arabie Griffith, and Hermann Trophy winner Joseph Lapira. Despite facing catastrophic damage from Hurricane Laura in 2020, the school is currently entering a historic new chapter with the construction of a state-of-the-art campus designed to serve future generations of “Saints.”

1. When did you start coaching football?

I started Coaching at McNeese in 1994

2. What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned while coaching?

Stay adaptable to your talent on your roster and ABC. ALWAYS BE COACHING!

3. What do you hope to achieve next season?

Team Chemistry. I want to cultivate a trust and winning culture.

4. Is there any room for improvement for you or your team?

As a staff we are constantly evaluating ourselves and trying to fine tune what works for our coaching style and getting our players to be accountable both on and off the field. 

5. Do you have any future goals for the school’s football program?

The school is moving into a brand-new $60 million facility in 2027. If we stay consistent with staff and share the same message, the future is extremely bright at SLC. 

6. Are there any teams you look forward to playing against next season?

We have a great district, and I am trying to keep our games as local as possible, so out of district we will play Sulphur, Barbe, and LaGrange to grow our brand in the community and have cross-town rivals.
