Rising Star: James McCray IV

James McCray IV is a 5’10 162 pound running back/safety at Woodlawn in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. James is a quick back that runs a 4.6 40 yard dash, as well as explosive power in his legs with a 315 pound squat. James is a smart young man with over a 3.0 GPA and great size for junior varsity level.

When did you begin to play football?

“I started to play with my friends at 8 years old.”

Do you play any other sports?

“I used to play baseball, but i decided to stop playing so I can focus fully on football.”

What is your favorite NFL team, and why?

“I am a fan of the San Francisco 49ers. I enjoy watching Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel, they are extremely talented and can probably win the super bowl.”

What is your favorite part about playing running back, as well as safety?

“Offensively, I like how it feels to score a touchdown. On defense I enjoy getting to hit people.”

What are some of your dream colleges you would like to attend or visit?

“I like LSU because of how close it is to home. Oregon would be a perfect fit for me as well. I also like Penn State.”

What is something you have learned from football so far in life?

“It’s okay to lose, it happens and you have to get up and try again.”

Lastly, how would your teammates describe you?

“I am always focused, not selfish, having fun and I am always in a good mood.”
