When I first started Louisiana Gridiron Football, Coach Dennis Dunn from Louisiana College was my first interview. I could have interviewed Les Miles, or Ron Roberts since I had been a part of both staffs in one way or another. But I started with Louisiana College because I wanted to show how much talent there was in this state. Louisiana College was and is the only DIII school in Louisiana, and they had some rare Louisiana talents.
One such guy that caught my eye at Louisiana College was Easton Melancon. Even at 5’11” he is one talented quarterback. He has a strong arm, and great ball skills. He is a field general out there. I watched him on several occasions put the team on his back and fight for the win.
I had the pleasure of interviewing him this month and the following is a little about the guy who is only the third person to throw for 3,000 yards in a season and the third guy in the state to throw for 10,000 yards in a career.
How and when did you get into playing football?
I was about 6 years old. My dad wad was always there for me, and he got me into playing sports. He is the one I really credit with starting me playing recreational ball. I was the youngest kid on the team but I was one of the best players on the team. When I got to high school, I played multiple sports so I like a little bit of everything.
