Dylan Shelmire is one of the top defensive players in the Baton Rouge area for the 2026 season. At 5’11, 215 pounds, the 2nd Team All-District selection finished last season with 72 tackles, 11 TFLs, 2 FFs, 1 sack, 5 QB hurries, 1 PBU, and 1 fumble recovery. He also was a key starter on the Broncos’ state championship runner-up team as a sophomore and finished with 46 tackles plus 1.5 sacks, 1 FF, and 1 FR. With a 3.2 GPA, Shelmire is a focused student athlete that takes his studying in the classroom as hard as his studying in the film room as a linebacker. He is already off to a great start this offseason as Shelmire was a top performer at the Gridiron Football Elite Camp at Lamar Dixon Expo Center. At the camp, he ran a 4.7/40, a 4.44 shuttle, and had a 10’2 broad jump. The son of HBCU National Champion tight end Dedrick Shelmire is looking to become a second generation college football player himself as he has recently committed to play at Southeastern.
